    Utah CCW

I just wanted to get an opinion about the Utah CCW. I'm a dual resident with the State of Texas and I've been debating if I should get the TX CCW or the UT CCW.
I'm here on a project for a while and have some downtime where I can take the UT class or I can just wait and do the TX one when I go home.

So, are there any advantages of one over the other?

NSR500 the difference between the Texas and Utah CCW is the honored states.

From looking at it Texas CCW is honored by 24 states. Utah CCW is honored by 28-30 states.

If I had a choice I'd go for the Utah CCW since it gives more states.

Like was said in the previous post, Utah covers more states than the TX permit. If you plan on traveling to the states that do not honor the TX permit, get the Utah permit. From what I can see Utah covers the following states that TX does not:

      Alabama
      Minnesota
      New Hampshire
      Ohio
      Washington

The Texas permit is honored in the following states that the Utah permit is not:

      Pennsylvania
      South Carolina

NSR500 yes it is possible to hold multiple CCW's.
I am applying for both Utah & Florida CCW's.
All together I should have 32 states.

I hold a Nevada CCW and since I moved from there to here have found out its real easy to get one there.

Thanks for the link Directshot. I will have to check that out.

It appears that Nevada has a short list of states honoring their CCW.
AK, AZ, ID, IN, KY, MI*, MO, MT, OK, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT

                * Denotes that only permits issued by your state of legal residence are accepted.

You should be at 30 with the Utah and Florida permits. Remember, as a non-resident with the Utah permit that excludes Michigan and New Hampshire. They only recognize permits if you live in the state that issued your permit. However, 30 is still excellent! Too bad our own state will not issue in most counties.

Hey Jim I just had a thought.

If one takes the test in one state can it be used to apply to more than that county's permit ? IE can I apply for a NEVADA CCW with my Utah or other states Diploma or certificate from Utah?

If I understand your question, could you take one class and have it satisfy the requirements for other states as well? That depends on whether the course that you take is approved by the issuing authority from the other states. The Utah and Florida class can be taken in any state. The Nevada permit class MUST be conducted within the confines of the state of Nevada. Arizona is the same. I could do one class that is approved by each of the states, but to have Nevada in the mix we would have to conduct the class in Nevada.
