    DROS FORM

I purchaced a handgun and a 3006 from Sportsman supply in Campbell, I recently went in and asked for a copy of my Dros, I was told it would cost me a $100 to get it.
    Is this legal?
I need the copies as I am visiting another country and need the copies to prove the firearms are mine for the visitor permit.

All the other gun shops just gave me a copy, no problems at all.

    Any info will be great.
    Thanks

By law the FFL you purchased the gun from is required to give you one copy of the DRoS. Extra copies are at the discretion of the FFL.

        Dros

The DOJ only charges $25 for all the paperwork and background check, a $100 to pull and copy a DROS is extortion and not a quarter of the work involved, all files should be numerical yearly order and with a receipt is not hard to get.
If its that hard to pull a file, maybe the DOJ needs to pay the shop a visit.

Well, yeah, if it's within the first year or so, I wouldn't have any problems finding it, especially if they can pinpoint at least the month that they got the gun. Going 2-3-4-5-10 years out...there's gonna be a little green there. Plus I always provide a copy of the DRoS at the same time it's run. Not my fault if you lose it .

Is there another way to proof that you own the guns? I mean, there are states which allows private firearm transactions w/o any records; how would people there bring their guns? Maybe you can check this and prohaps go that route instead of paying $200 ? (I'd figure it'll be easier for that other country to just record your guns as you enter.)

As for this store not giving you the copies... I remember hearing that the difference between a good store and bad store is how they treat you after the purchase.

Then why not just make a copy from your form?
Lots of people throw out their 4473; I must have thrown out tons because each time I see them when cleaning or moving, I throw them out.

you didn't understand his post. He was saying that if you had bought from him, you would have had a copy of your DROS, since he always gives the customer a copy. therefore, if you came back later asking him for a copy of the DROS, it must be because you don't have your copy that he already gave you, hence, you lost it.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?
