    CMP eligibility questions

    For CMP eligibility...

    1. Membership in CMP Affiliated Organization
What's an inexpensive shooting club you can join online to fulfill this portion of the requirement?

    2. Marksmanship or other Firearms Related Activity
What do you guys use? Will a handgun safety cerificate work?

      1. Join the GCA
2.I don't think a HSC is recognized anywhere outside of CA.
Look up a local club from www.odcmp.com and look for a match, and shoot one.

HSC worked for me! I looked at the requirements and one of them is a firearms owner ID card. I called and asked if the HSC would work and they said that as long as I shot a gun with the instructor then it counts! To get my HSC I did a classroom session and range time.

I have been a member of the California Rifle Pistol Association and they count as a club. I happened to still have my old USPSA card which showed my classification when I shot competiton some years back so that was my proof of marksmanship. Do it, you will not regret it, except for being broke afterward!!

            hmmmmm... M1Garands.... uuuuuuuhh

Orest M. has also stated that a simple note on Range letterhead signed by a range official stating that you did shoot 50 rounds would work.

I used my DD214 (military discharge papers) and joined the Redwood Gun Club in Eureka.

The BEST PART of the whole thing was having a big truck pull up in front of my house and being handed...

AN ACTUAL FIREARM ON THE STREET IN CALIFORNIA!

              +1 for the CMP!

A CA hunting license works, since to get it I needed a Hunter Safety Class with shooting.
If you've got anything firearms related they'll probably take it.
Go ahead and email them, I did and that's when they said my Hunting license would work.
I think that they also have a form on the website now for a range officer to complete.
