    Going to Vegas

I'm going to be making a trip to Vegas this weekend.I think I might take my OLL rifles and shoot in a free state. The problem is, how does shooting guns in Vegas work? Could you shoot anywhere in the middle of no where? Does Vegas have a outdoor rifle ranges like we have here?where?

My understanding is that plinking on BLM land within Clark County (Las Vegas and surrounding areas) has been banned now for several years. You have to go outside the county to plink on BLM land.

Back in the 80's, one could just drive out of the city limits and shoot on adjacent BLM areas or flood containment basins. Those days are gone. The Sheriff's Dept. helo will come by and check out any gunfire outside of the establish gun ranges.

I read somewhere on an alert that Nye County now wants to also start banning plinking on public lands in some areas due to 'development' around Pahrump area.

Vegas area has several indoor ranges, but I don't know of any outdoor ranges aside from the Desert Sportman's Club on Charleston Blvd., but I'm not sure if that's for members only or open to the public...

DSC is for members (and their guests) only.

Ok, when I lived there a couple years ago this was my understanding. You have to be 10 miles out of LV metro area, 1 mile from the freeway, and 200yds from any dwelling or buildings. I used to get on the 15 South toward Jean, exit Jean and make the right at that stop sign. Now you'd be headed toward Goodsprings. In the distance you can see some small mountains, hills actually. I'd drive to the base of those hills, find a trail, and pull off the road. There's alot of trails in that area. The best place to turn off is where the power lines start getting closer to the road as they run parallel to the road. It's nice and open behind you and the hill is a massive backstop. I have shot there many times and it's perfectly ok there.

Also, if you intend on going to the Bellagio, drop your guns off first. Last time I was there, they required every other car to pop their trunks to drive into their facility.

anyone have links for gun laws in Arizona\Nevada? I understand as soon as you cross the state line you're allowed to open carry as long as its not concealed, can anyone confirm this?
either start being proactive or leave the state. The longer you're here, and waiting for bills to pass, the less rights you will have.

I am not a cop, I am not a lawyer but I think this is how it works...

In LV metro area, if you are staying for 3 days or more, you need to register handguns with LV Metro PD. You'll recieve a blue card. You can open carry in LV, save for North Las Vegas (north of Charleston) and definately don't open carry near the strip. Other than that, I never ran into any problems when I lived there. I don't know about AZ.
