My understanding is that if you have a C&R license you can still buy handgun ammo online after 2011.

In my neck of the woods it's been almost that good. The only trouble is that the store only gets about one case of 22 per shipment. Since each case contains 10 boxes of ammo (bulk packs), it only takes a couple guys to clean out the store for that day.

I think they would need a few pallets to satisfy the immediate demand and every guy would probably take 1-2 cases if they could.

Gander Mtn bulk pack 22 with the current coupon discount AND free shipping ended up being CHEAPER then Walmart bulk packs! Came out to $17.50 per 525!!

For example, everyone complains about not getting any .22, but I have been able to buy about a dozen boxes over the last week! And I haven't been camping out when they unpack the shipment, I've just stopped by on my way to work a few times a week. If I wanted 45 I'm sure I could just check the other Walmarts here in San Diego and I would probably find some. Or I could go down to So Cal Guns, I know they have cases of the stuff right now.

            Time to stop buying?

The time to buy is not when there is panic buying/frenzy with sky high prices. Start buying when prices return to normal. Just a little bit every week. And then you're ready for the next panic/shortage/price spike.

Very true! I have about 25,000 rounds of .22 acquired here and there when on sale...over 25 plus years!

I don't disagree with you cudakidd. In fact, I think you're probably saving more money in the long run than the rest of us as well as not having to worry about what the government does. But there's a bigger issue.

The government is now telling you as a consumer that you will be denied a choice of what you can purchase and where you can purchase it. It started with the approved handgun list in CA, it's now going to ammo restrictions, so what's next and when does it stop? If we continue to bow down how much longer will your 2nd Amendment rights be infringed? Is there too much fat in the Constitution that we need to trim off a little to slim it down?

Would free speech, free press advocates and religious advocates have the same argument if the government started to deny them certain rights as individuals? And then started to fingerprint them? What about denying toys in Happy Meals? Where does it end?

So what can we do? Donate to CalGuns, identify the politicians that voted for this and elect them out of office, get a petition to repeal the ban. I for one am not one that would adjust my lifestyle and choice as a consumer because the government says you are now denied this option and will be fingerprinted from this day forward. Maybe there are others that are okay with being branded, but not me. Okay, I'm off my pedastal for this morning .

XYZ, I fully agree with you on the overall questionability of the attacks on the Second Amendment. But barring successful resolution of the various cases before SCOTUS and subsequent challenges to the laws here, we have to deal with reality on the ground.

And now it is a legal end run around laws passed by those who are happy with ammo shortages and limitations on your commercial free speech (retail sales)>

Agreed. We have to deal with the situation now (or yet to come) and let CalGuns and others we donate to defend our 2nd Amendment rights. I've actually started looking at the Lee Press that you mentioned earlier in this thread. Looks like I may be acquiring a new skill as a result of next February. Thanks for your input cudakidd - you've helped to enlighten some options.

Everytime I check Walmart on my way in or out of the Bay they never have what I'm looking for (.45 or .22) if you want 223 that you can find, but I have enough of that. I think retailers are going to put the screws to everyone when the new ammo ban kicks in, they know most people won't be able to mail order ammo, Walmart's getting out of ammo sales, they've got you were they want you, cornered with little other options.....you haven't even seen high ammo prices yet.....I don't think I went in to a single gun related business that didn't take full advantage of Obamamania....why would this be any different?

Stopped by the Glendora Walmart several weeks back......and they had EVERYTHING in stock! .22, .380, Winchester 9MM & .45 bulk packs, .223 & even 7.62x39! Only bad thing was I was leaving for a trip the next day and couldn't spend any of my traveling cash.
