    Is Dr. Piazza for real?

I just got an e-mail from him saying to throw away those alarm company signs (I have an alarm in my house to wake me up at night so I can grab my gun and defend my family) and instead put up a sign that says there are guns in the house and that will deter anyone up to mayhem.

    Uh....

Right, I want to ADVERTISE I have guns, so when I leave someone has MORE incentive to break in and try to find my weapons. Granted, they're all locked up in a safe, but even so, it seems to me that given:

    1) Even with an alarm, they would have all the time they need to abscond with stuff.
    2) Even with the guns locked in a safe, the person who views that as a tempting target won't know until he breaks in, anyway you slice it, if someone thinks they can get some nice free weapons they're gonna try to get 'em.

I just think this is an all around bad idea to advertise "Guns in here!".

I would agree with you on this point. Despite his persona and egomania, frontsight is a hell of a school.

Yah, I do not dispute that the training is probably top flight, but this is just a bad idea.

I heard somewhere to always take an instructor's advice with a grain of salt. If it doesn't make sense to you, just ignore it.

This, and in this case one big grain of salt.

+1 on advertising. I would not like to do that in where I live.

              Fronsight does have good training.

                First of all, I don't believe he's a doctor.

He's a chiropractor. No offense to chiropractors.

And I believe he's a scientologist. All offense to scientologists....you freaks!!!!!

He is a catholic....the Scientology thing is BS. He also has a big ego, but his school is first rate...Last week there were 820 students at the school taking classes. I guess a bigger ego is to be expected when you can pull off that kind of performance. Fortunately, since his style grates on me a bit, the fact that he is never at the school itself and has great people running it, we dont have to deal with him/

I didnt read the email about pulling your alarm signs, but it sounds like a stupid idea. I dont like the advertizing that I have guns method either...like the other poster said...learn what sounds right and discard what sounds wrong...

I would think that the only place one does not need alarms or their signs is in a "master-planned community for firearms owners".

Nobody loves Dr. Piazza more than Dr. Piazza.

I've been to FS, and would go again, but the man is a shameless self-promoter.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

                          1) I agree. Advertising the presence of guns is a very bad idea.

                          2) Front Sight has excellent training.

                          3) Front Sight's business model appears fatally flawed (multi-level marketing of sorts)

                          4) Havoc: Does your license plate say "Right 2 Keep And Bear Arms", or is it "Right 2 Kill ABBA"?

                          Just curious.

My alarms have four legs and tails. Once they are done barking they'll eat the burglar.

That said, while his school seems to be delivering high quality training, Piazza himself comes off as more loopy with each passing day. His "performance" at the CRPA annual dinner was (according to those there) downright assinine.

He kinda gives me the Billy Mays pitchman vibe. I just finished checking out his website and it would not take much for some one to convince me he is a looney. I would still consider checking out the school if I felt like dumping that much cash.
