    glocks and reloads

does anyone know if it's safe to shoot reloads in glock barrels? or must shoot only factory ammo?

If you don't tell the Glock barrel you are using reloads, how is it going to know? I have shot hundreds of 9mm reloads in my Glock 26 without a hiccup. The only problem I have had with reloads were with my Kahr which does not like my minimum loads that work perfectly in the Glock.

I've shot "quality" reloads. No problemo.

Glock says your factory warranty will be void if you shoot reloads. If you blow up your gun with an overcharged reload, it's your own fault. "Remanufactured" ammo shouldn't be a problem.

If you do shoot reloads, make sure they are made with jacketed bullets. Glock barrels have polygonal rifling which doesn't work well with cast lead bullets. You will see an excess buildup of lead which will cause accuracy issues and possibly barrel failure from overpressure. Some users report good success with hard-cast lead bullets, but your typical "wheel weight" bullets will most likely cause problems for you. If you do use lead bullets, clean your barrel regularly and thoroughly with a good solvent designed to remove leading.

Ok, seriously, all joking aside, reloads in a Glock *can* be ok and safe, as long as you know what you're doing. This topic has been covered over and over. Some basics:

Shoot jacketed or plated only - no lead

9mm tends to be better as the barrels / ramps are better supported

Buy and use an aftermarket barrel if you want to shoot lead, or if you're shooting something other than 9mm

reloads are not recomended by any manufacturer

unjacketed ammo is not recomended by anyone for use in polygon rifling

i wouldnt even want to use tmj plated cause that plating is kind of thin

stick to true jacketed bullets loaded properly loaded and it wont go atomic on you

40s&w brass is often abused with standard use i fell it is more likely if anything were to happen it would be in .40

There is not much of a problem besides the tendency to have some leading problems. If you are good with cleaning your Glock barrel than it is not a problem. I like using copper jacketed bullets for reloading, I feel more comfortable using them.
