Would you use this for home defense?

All of your ammunition needs in one place. Our ammo includes military surplus, Hornady, Winchester as well as many other brands. We offer bulk and cheap priced ammo for your ammunition needs at Ammo To Go.

    Ammo to go ad:
This is 12 Gauge Rhodesian Jungle Ammo. This ammo is loaded with BB and OO buckshot. This is the best dual load for home protection. The combination of the BB and Buckshot gives this round a really good pattern. This ammo does alot of damage to its target. It is a 2 3/4" shell and is loaded to a max load. It is safe to shoot in all 12 gauge shotguns.

    Lol, no for 2 reasons.

    1. No intruder deserves to be shot with such expensive ammo.

    2. Imagine the mess you'd be stuck with .

A .45 is good enough to stop anyone in their tracks.

I wouldn't, mainly because they don't know that "a lot" is two words. If they don't know common grammar, who knows about the quality of ammo they sell.

I guess the grammar police only use 00 buckshot.
          Good enough for me.

            No.

I wouldn't use anything smaller than buckshot if I was using a 12 gauge for home defense.

Well, the US Department of Education is buying 14" bbl Remington 870's for some reason, maybe that's why. Spelling errors.

No. Because if you shot someone in self defense, the prosecution would make you out to be a blood thirsty murdering monster for using specialized evil loads like that.

                  Absolutely not.
                  I would ask, "why"?

This is in the same category as running less-lethal... or even those who load up their tubes with 2 rounds of birdshot, 2 of buck, and 2 slugs.... or loading a 1911 magazine alternating FMJ and JHP.

If you are pulling the trigger, it is because you are in fear for your life.
You want the first trigger pull to be effective at neutralizing the threat.

If overpenetration is the concern, using a cartridge that might require two shots poses twice the risk of OP as firing one shot.

Different types of ammo used in the same shooting will **** with forensics, and can cast doubt on your statements "I was standing here, the intruder was over there, moving in that direction". It can cast doubt on whether you had multiple weapons, or that you and someone else may have "ganged up" on the intruder and there were actually 2 people involved and one scooted before the cops arrived.

Best to keep it simple and make the cops job of verifying your story as easy as possible. The fewer questions they have, the more likely they are to believe your version of what happened.

Advice that I have been given on home defense:

                  Avoid reloads.
Retain a minimum of 5 rounds and the box (at least the end flap indicating lot#) for surrender to the police to aid forensics. Once you are down to where you are going to dip into the last 10-15 rounds, just shoot them all at the range and move to a new box for defense (that's why I like the Speed GDJHP 50 round LE packs, plus they're the same price as the commercial 20rd boxes).

You can hit the bad guy with a single .45 caliber projectile with each squeeze of the trigger. Or you can hit him with 9 .30 caliber projectiles with every squeeze of the trigger using 12 guage OO Buckshot.

                          No..I wouldn't.

In all honesty..it really doesn't seem any worse than double OO buckshot. If you used this in a home defense situation though a lawyer would have a field day with this "exotic ammo". Kind of like using Black Talon ammo, it's really nothing special but a real anal lawyer can take the fancy packaging/name and make you look like a blood thirsty killer for defending yourself with this ammo.

Federal buckshot will work fine for you..they have one with a "flight control wad" that is probably even more effective...just got to www.ammoman.com and check out his 12 gauge selection...

It beats a sharp stick in the eye. If it's what i had at the time,i'd use it.

Also - if you're looking for maximum stopping power - go with slugs and call it a day.

My shotgun is loaded with 00 and slugs. I was given a few of the Rhodesian rounds. I'll shoot them at the range and see what the pattern looks like.
