buying rifle online, what to do...

So Ratworxs finally got some MSARs and Im about to place my order

Do I call the FFL of my choosing first or do i place the order and tell ratworxs the FFL info and then call the FFL about the rifle?

I just like to double check things

What? Are they shipping? I've been on the waitlist forever.

Edit: Looked at their website. Nothing's changed. Where did you get your info from?

BTW, I called them to get on the wait list. They told me when they have it in stock, they will call me to confirm I still want the rifle, at which point I will call my FFL to fax Ratworx their info.

Find the FFL you want to use first, and check with them to make sure they will receive it and what their fees are for handling the transfer.

Then place your order and give the shipper the FFLs info if they dont have it already. If they dont have it your receiving FFL will hafta send/fax them a copy of his license before they can ship anything.

The biggy is be clear on what the FFL fees will because some places like to jack you on fees for mail order stuff because they want you to buy their stock.

It's been a while since I bought any firearms online. But it goes like this:
        1. contact your local FFL dealer and tell him that you'd like to use his to transfer a firearm
        2. contact the seller and get his info, pay for firearm, give your local FFL info
        3. tell your local FFL the seller info and to take care of it
        4. get a call from your local FFL that gun is here
        5. check out gun, fill out paper work at your local FFL

Once you get a working relationship w/ your local FFL dealer, you can skip steps 1 and 3. I normally just tell the seller my FFL info and ask him to take care of it.

Even though I've been using the same FFL for a while I always call him first with a heads-up. Number one, I want to make sure he's not on vacation/shop closed at the time I need him to send a copy of his license to the seller. Second, I like to make sure he's cool with receiving whatever it is I'm buying. It hasn't been a problem for me but I know some dealers (for example) won't accept a stripped lower without a bullet button, even though it's not legally required. You need to find that stuff out before you get the wheels rolling.

Also if it's your first time using a particular FFL, make sure you find out beforehand if the seller is ok with a fax of your dealer's FFL or if they want it mailed. Be courteous and don't put your dealer through the ringer by making him send it twice.
