    Surefire?

I know there is the old saying you get what you pay for but don't you think Surefire is a little to proud of them selfs? Lets face it; a light set up for a, let say Remington 870, is almost as costly as the shotgun... Really guys! are there people out there buying this stuff? {out side of the government for law enforcement} because our tax money endless... But thats another forum... I know, I know; isn't your life worth a $???.00 for a flashlight for your shotgun... I could set up a camera system with monitors for this, and just wait inside for the bad guy... Well thats my rant for the day...

i'll just be the first one to say it: "don't like the prices, don't buy from them!"

their stuff is very expensive, but there are other ways of getting their products for much cheaper than their listed msrp. i've always purchased my surefire products off ebay or other vendors at much less than msrp.

I have a 15 year old SureFire 9P. Upgraded the incandescent bulb to LED recently. Had it on my shotgun and took a few dozen buckshot recoil with no problems. Doesn't look pretty but it works. I think It'll last a lifetime.

You also get their fantastic warranty. I would not pay full price for a 618LFA, ebay or craigslist is your best bet. Although I gotta say the integrated foreend light is awesome. Looks great on the shotgun too!Too bad Fenix doesn't make one!

Botach has great mounting solutions as well. You can do a picatinny mount by the front barrel band and attach a streamlight TLR1.

Only Surefire I have are their hand held flashlights. Their weaponlights are just too expensive for my likings.

Nope. I don't think they are too proud of themselves.

Having owned Surefires, and having put them through absolute hell and back, I can tell you with 100% certainty that they are worth every single penny.

As others said you can usually get them at a discount if you shop around a little bit, but they're still worth it.

No one makes a better light than Surefire. Period.

Also, almost no one else in the industry is honest about their light output. Surefire gives you true real-life output numbers (lumens), where most manufacturers do lot testing of the bulbs, and pick the brightest one they find and list that rating as the overall lumen rating for all their lights. And that's the light output measured AT THE BULB, not out the front.

You can mistreat your surefire lights (not recommended) and they will still keep coming back. I have more than one of the E1B's and I've run over one of them with a car, dropped it, accidentally thrown it around and it still works perfectly.

I have so many surefire and never had one problem with any. I think I'm up to ten right now. I have seen many other brands fail when being used on weapons. Now I can admit to being a surefire fanboy. But no other light has worked as well for me.

My favorite surefire is the G2. $30 and with a drop in lamp works as a fine weapon light.

Surefire makes a Great product...Yes.....expensve...yes. They have a strict fixed pricing agreement with their dealers, and restrictive dealer requirements. This creates a limited wholesale or competitive pricing structure. Too bad, because they make a Fantastic product.

the warranty is near no questions asked. I lost a bezel on one and sent the light in. I had a new one not long afterward.

I hear they're really strict and otherwise harsh on their employees though. I've heard a lot of horror stories.

OP obviously never had a surefire before. their outrageous prices are warranted.

i have an old 3D maglite i bought in 1985; it still works and i thought that was expensive too. the surefire lights are incredible devices and most are real "space savers" as well. "if you buy quality you only cry once" is a commonly heard saying; i wonder why? i agree that things are just not affordable anymore. but i can't afford to buy cheap and get low quality either; only to upgrade later and cut my losses on my original purchase. not all things that are expensive are high quality; seasonal "trend" items can be overpriced. prices on guns can go "over the top" during politically challenging times when folks have reason to believe their 2nd amendment rights may be further compromised; then it gets down to supply and demand. i saw beretta 950bs .25 handguns in "excellent" condition priced close to an "excellent" condition seecamp in the past 1 1/2 years. that is more ridiculous to me than surefire lights selling for what they sell for. the secondary market (forums, ebay, gunbroker, etc.) can provide an opportunity to get the surefire and other items at discount prices; with diligence and patience fantastic deals can be found. and ultimately if you don't like, don't buy. i get concerned when the price of a "quality" firearm escalates to the point that a lower income working person cannot consider a purchase. by "quality" i mean a gun that discharges when it is supposed to, whose projectile goes in the direction intended, and has some degree of reasonable durability. there are $1000.00 guns that don't meet that criteria. at least the surefire does what it is supposed to do. by the way, i can't afford a surefire for my remington 870P in the format i would want but imo that doesn't mean it's not worth the money; i just can't afford it....
