    5.56 x 45 $$$

Ok, so I need to get some 5.56 x 45mm 62 grain ammo
Well, as much as I want the ammo, I dont wanna take out a loan to buy 1,000 rounds. Ammo is insane, at Turners AE .223 is at about $200 for 500rnds, anyone know of some good deals, I have to go shooting or im gunna go crazy!

I am looking at the Wolf .223 62gr with that polymer coating crap...... how does it function in an AR?
I will even take 55gr if I can get it cheaper then what it is now.... maybe $180 - $210 per 1,000. The only reason I prefer 62gr is I am shooting out of a 1/7 bbl. And yes, I used google, only this time it was not my friend!

look at AR15.com and look in the ammo forum. Make sure you have a box of Kleenex though. You have been warned.

          Terrible and terrible.

S&B steel case is hard on Stoner-type bolts. I've broken two extractor pins with that ammo.

If you reload, it's cheap... assuming you can get decent deals on the projectiles, that is.

makes one yearn for the days of $125/720rds Radway Green SS-109. I kick myself in the *** for only buying 6 cases when it was $125 a case. Course, I was told I was a idiot for paying that much for wimpy RG surplus. Oh well.

It really depends on what your gonna use the ammo for. Is this purchase gonna be for your SHTF stash? If so I would suggest paying for U.S. mil-spec M855 ammo. I purchased a 1K round case of LC for just that reason. Yes I know your gonna pay through the nose but if it's for a SHTF scenario then you wanna make sure the stuff goes bang every time you pull the trigger. All too often I see a lot of issues with ppl's AR's when using crappy ammo just to save a few bucks. It's really not worth it. At the Chabot shoot and que calguns member (Ghost) had numerous FTF issues. IIRC he was using some of that British Radway SS109 ammo. I went ahead and gave him some of my ammo..Winchester M855..fired around ten rounds non stop without one failure. I made the mistake once of purchasing some Greek (Olympic brand) SS109 ammo at a cheap price and just had so many problem's with this ammo. Word to the wise..for your SHTF stash don't skimp on quality. Stick with U.S. mil-spec ammo and you should be fine.

On the subject of M855 ammo - Ammobros is going to be producing and selling it soon; they've got a big load of M855 projectiles coming in. It won't be a whole lot higher than their new manufactured ammo (not the reloads), according to Dustin.

Also, they've got 55gr projectiles coming in, from overseas... looks like the plinking ammo drought is soon to be over!

Yes. It's costly now. I don't like the price any more than you do, but you've made a fine choice.

I shoot nothing but RG or M855 nowadays, but I might have to diversify to cull my investments. For the foreseeable future the only bright spot is AmmoBros producing their own M855, they produce great NEW ammo. I was there a few weeks back when Dustin got the new M855 projectiles in, he decided to tear one apart and these babies are definately penetrator ammo. The steel pentrator was much larger than he though but exactly what I have seen on USGI M855.

Let's all hope that he will load it to 5.56 spec versus the softer .223 specifications.

                            One advice:

Get yourself a case of M855 from from Ammunition to go:

All of your ammunition needs in one place. Our ammo includes military surplus, Hornady, Winchester as well as many other brands. We offer bulk and cheap priced ammo for your ammunition needs at Ammo To Go.

FYI: ALL USGI M855 ammunition comes in 10 rounds striper clip, 3 clips to a cardboard box. Everything else, however it is labeled or advertised to be, will either be fakes or at best rejects. It is hands down the best and most reliable ammo out there short of newly made exotic stuff (5.56 TAP etc.).
