Coming from San Mateo area -- where to shoot outdoors

I am visiting my future in-laws from about the 31st to the 7th in the Bay Area. I am also helping my future brother in law assemble his first OLL. Since I am driving, I am going to bring up a few of my guns and we are going to go shooting.

The question is, where, within reasonable distance (less than 1.5 hours drive) from the San Mateo/Burlingame area, is there an outdoor shooting range? I would prefer an open shooting area rather than a structured range, but either will do if they are OLL and 'assault weapon' friendly. (If the open shooting area is not 'assault weapon friendly', then I can leave my AR at home if need be).

Thank you in advance for the information.

Outdoor ranges: Chabot, Los Altos or Sunnyvale.

You could try Coyote Point (#13 in San Mateo) as long as your config is legit. Hoffmang seems to shoot there a bit.

Coyote Point Firing Range is in San Mateo just off 101.

It's open Mon, Wed, Fri evenings 7 to 10pm.

+1 on Coyote Point, and if you PM me when you arrive, I'll meet you there one evening. I live 5 minutes from the range.

Metcalf would be 30-35 mins or so (without traffic).
Coyote Point is 5 to 10 mins away.
Jackson Arms is maybe 20 mins away, but it's indoor and 25y only.

OLLs should be good to go at all three places.

I live nearby as well, so how about an informal calguns AR meet at Coyote Point?

All of the above are good, but my personal favorite range is Los Altos Rod and Gun and I live about 10 minutes south of B-game and have my boat at Coyote.

I'm down to take it over one night as long as we stay until 10pm. I hate being the last person there at 9:30.

Has something changed so that Coyote Point is OLL-friendly?

Keep in mind it's run by the San Mateo SO...

Coyote Point is OLL friendly. We've had an RSO from their welcome us in other threads and I know Bill W has shot his registered ARs there.
