Turner's used gun rack in SoCal

Has anyone actually purchase a used gun from Turner's used gun rack. The prices seem to be close to double the going rate for any used gun. Most of the time the prices are higher than NIB. I like to look, but I always come away with the same thought....."Does anyone actually buy anything"?

I looked at a double barreled ithica 12 guage hammerless real hard the other day. 350 for a loose gun with a ding was just too much even if I did want to cut it up.

what i noticed is that when they infrequently have good deals, it's when the gun's classified as used. when it comes to consignment, it's almost like the seller thinks you owe him extra cashfor breaking the gun in.

well the price would have been about right if they hadn't tacked a 25% fee on it + Dros + Sales tax

a 250 out the door ithica double would have been about fair in the condition it was in. 400+ is just ludicris

The only thing I can say in the defense of Turners 9 and believe me the last thing I wanna do is defend them) is they gotta make $$ to stay in business.
Also if a new gun owner went in to buy a gun and he sees a new gun going for 600$ but one on consignment is going for 500$ all hes really seeing is 100$ off the new price. hate to say it but its just business.
For example I have a 44 mag that im thinking of selling. Im looking to get 450$ for it. yeah its a little more than some want to pay but i only shot abotu 40 rounds through it, its in 99% shape and its still saving you abotu 100$ from buying a new one. I dont need to sell it but I may find a buyer who is willing to pay my price. I know I wont get what I paid for it new but I ather sell it myself than put it on consignment. It may take me 10x as long to sell it but who cares Im not desperate for $$.

I browse the gun rack every so often. So far, I've gotten:

Steven's single shot 12 ga - $75
Norinco .22 pump - $125
Ruger P90 - $124

There was a Winchester model 97 that went for $199; I missed getting that by something like 2 hours.

I have but it is a hassle, many guns are not listed or if they are listed, they are long gone and not updated. I've personally witnessed this with guns I personally bought than checked to see how long till they were removed.


I do not reccomend travelling far to try to get one. I've had that headache already. Did score some deals, missed others. Listed as 80% but closer to 90-95% Winchester mod 1400 semi auto 12 ga for $125. Taurus mod 72 pump 22mag stainless missing rear sight but with scope and tang sight for $150. Roth Steyr Mod 1907 for $100,later was sold at auction for $400.

Guns not on online gun rack but purchased since the time of it's start. Browning Buckmark standard for $185, stainless Marlin mod 70 papoose with all accessories like floating case, $150. Star Pd for $200. Saw a fixed choke older Mossberg 500 12 ga for $100! And 2 Glock Mod 24's for $500 each.

el Barto, those were Fountain Valley guns weren't they? I remember seeing the P90 and Norinco pump before.

The Norinco was the one from Fountain Valley, but the P90 I got in Reseda. I work in Century City so Reseda is just a short run up the 405 from me.

El Barto, I've noticed the Reseda store gets a lot of the interesting guns but it is far from where we live, you are lucky to have access to it. I find Reseda service to be among the worst of the Turners stores though they do have a take a number system.

How thrashed was the P90? I bought a slightly rusty one in the case for $230 elsewhere. There is/was a smaller Hispanic manager at Reseda he was the worst offender.

There's only one sure-fire way to get hot deals on consignment guns - go to the store on a regular basis and be prepared to jump on the good stuff.

If you see something great that you don't want, post the info, price, and location here so a fellow calgunner can get dibs on it.
