    Old Ammo

Whats the correct way to discard old ammo. Most of its multiple decades old, and has not been stored properly. Other than dumping in the garbage. 200 rds of mutiple calibers. Here in Kern County. My dad was asking....
    Thanks,

Dissassemble and discard the powder on the lawn. The case, bullet and primer are probably ok. Donate to a reloader.

It takes a lot to ruin ammo, and age is usually not a factor. Are you sure it's ruined?

ask a local range if they take and discard old ammo.

Being old is not necessarily being bad. Unless there is obvious corrosion or damage, or it was stored in a very hot container/place, it generally will be safe to shoot.

Of course, if you have no firearms to shoot it from, taking it to a local range will, at least, make someone happy.

If you are anywhere near Taft, Wes at Ten Percent Firearms would likely be happy to "discard" it for you
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

I took mine to the local Police station they took it no questions asked.

Are you better off than you were four years ago?

                          Factory ammo? Shoot it!

Unknown powder load reloaded ammo? Great for the lawn!

I recently had a few hundred .38 special wadcutter rounds given to me, and I absolutely cannot break them down with a impact bullet remover. Very well crimped!
I may just have to soak those in oil and discard them.
                          Now, that's a bummer....
