sell 1 expensive gun or several cheaper guns?

So I'm getting engaged soon and have been saving up the cash for the ring. Still need another 2.3 grand though. And I'm faced with a dillema. Should I sell off a nighthawk talon or several other cheaper guns like a mpa930, ak47, uppers and magazines. I already own two other 1911 Wilson combat and a custom job colt that I don't want to let go. Either way I don't shoot the nighthawk that much but I figure I could always buy mpas aks and uppers again pretty easily. What say u?

I would hope that she wouldn't expect a ring that would tap you out that much. It's not how much you spend on her it's about how much you love her.

Rule of thumb with CA girls, I've noticed, is that they want $5k rings. Period. That's just so they don't feel bad that they have the "dumpy ring" vs their friends.

Anyway, I suggest not selling any guns, just wait and save up. You'll just end up buying them again and paying "impatience tax" from the higher prices later on.

If your girl is cranky, suggest cubic zirconia in the same setting, with the promise that she'll get rocks a year or two down the road.

Give her the gun, tell her that's your engagement piece.

Never sell a gun, she can wait.

Buy a fake diamond and keep the guns. She will never be able to tell the difference anyway. Diamonds are the worst investment. The market price and availability is controlled by a small number of producers that conspire to control the market.

Not to mention that diamonds are not even rare. Ever try to sell a diamond? You wont get anything close to what you originally paid.

I vote for not selling guns to fund a ring as well. Just save the $, and/or buy less of a rock, but life isn't always that clear and simple. But sell a gun you may never get a chance to get back at a later date (maybe you will, maybe you won't), isn't worth it.

And I like both what pontiacpratt and grammaton76 wrote.

my girl is cali born and raised, she's just not a snooty *****, so she didn't want a 5k ring, her ring is just under 2k and she is very happy with it.

I'd sell the one expensive one. Make sure she's the one and you won't regret it. Almost all guns are replaceable (unless you've got some awesome antique)...especially a Nighthawk that you don't shoot.

You WILL regret it...maybe not now, definitely later.

Try thinking about what else you'll have to sell once you're married. Wives are also replaceable, but at a much higher cost than your guns.

You should be saving up to buy more guns. Wives come with this particular side effect of redirecting cash flow.

On the serious side here's what I did. I bought an ok ring with a 1/3kt stone. Waited five years and then for an anniversary upgrade to a 1/2kt...she's happy and I get a new gun. Then at 10 years I upgraded her to a full kt...she's happy I get a new gun. See the logic?
