I was on the phone with a local FFL and asked for clarification on what was needed to conduct a PPT. Specifically, the gun cable lock vs a gun safe.
The FFL stated that the Feds no longer view the declaration of having a gun safe as adequate and require that a gun cable lock be present during the transaction. Further, the FFL commented that the Feds required all privately owned firearms have their own cable which is the reason why they will only except the original lock that came with the weapon or one had to be purchased within 30 days. This is to ensure that this specific lock is for this specific weapon.
Since we are required to have cable locks on each and every weapon regardless of having a gun safe or not does it matter if one purchases a safe that is not Ca. complaint?
I searched and couldn't find the answer. If this was already posted please leave me a link for further reading.
