    electronic ear muffs

I am thinking about getting some electronic ear muffs, any input on them? will they work for everything from .22LR to .500 S&W magnum loads and everything in between?

I tried some cheap big 5 ones and they are actually kinda cool. They really do block out the noise and ampliphy voices

I have the Peltor Stereo 6s and I really like them. Wear those at the range for a day and you will never go back.

I will tell you I tried shooting a .50 BMG with them on and I wouldn't recommend doing that yourself. Learn from my mistakes and go for earplugs at that level.
www.tenpercentfirearms.com was open from 2005 until 2018. I now own Westside Arms.

I tired the cheapie ones from Harbor Freight. Think they are on sale for like $14 now but I returned mine. Wasn't too bad for the price but quality is crap. The foam piece that goes over the ear wasn't staying on the unit very tight.

The cheap Caldwell green plastic electronic muffs I got from MidwayUSA worked fine for me after I added some extra padding to protect my delicate baby-soft ears.

I have these and am happy with them.

You should still use foam earplugs in combination with these, though, since they only provide 19 dB protection by themselves, while good foam plugs provide up to the high 20s in protection.

Why bother with the electronic ones then? Well, if you turn up the mic volume all the way, you can hear conversations and range chatter almost normally, as if you didn't have the foam plugs or headphones on at all.

only problem is...you have to speak up for all your other friends that arn't wearing electronic ears...and they keep yelling like you can't hear them.
