    Question on Handgun Registration

My buddy's grandpa just died and when they were going through the house they found 2 pistols that no one even knew he had. He was most definitely not a theif, but they are almost positive they aren't registered. What is their course of action?

they are a .44 mag ruger and a s&w .357 revolver. nothin special

If your friend is inheriting them, he can file the proper registration forms with the DOJ.

        Correct.

Nothing wrong or illegal about unregistered handguns.
        Please read the Calguns Wiki
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.
