    Cock Problem!

sorry for the title ... but i thought that would get everyone's attention.

    here's a noob question....

I just recently got a Wilson 1911 with a bull barrel and I find that cocking the gun is really difficult (not to say I'm a wuss or anything,) even to a professional at the local gun shop I could see that I'm not the only one who struggles to cock the gun.

I want to know what I can do to make the gun cock effortless, slide like butter so to speak. I see people cocking their guns with 2 fingers with such ease.

The gun is fairly new ... about 100rounds through it ... maybe need some break in time?

Any advice would be much appreciated in advance!!!

    Thanks!

overly stiff recoil spring? Pull the spring and mount the slide see if somethign is hanging up the slide a metal burr or a ding in the metal. Also make sure the rails of the slide are not tweaked. My buddy had a slide that was slightly squeezed at the end. I took my mic and checked to see if the slide was even on both sides and it was just a hair tweaked but it was enough to put slight pressure on the pistol frame. Just enough to leave a tiny tiny wear mark on the slide

I'm having difficulty with the title? Does the OP mean racking the slide or cocking the hammer?

              If it's the latter...

He is having difficulty manipulating the hammer, it would be the mainspring.

Try changing out the mainspring out for a 19 or 17 lb spring (stock 23). See if that works out for you.

              If it's the former...

A recoil spring may be the issue.

My tiny 4 foot nothing GF can manipulate all 1911's shot just fine. Not calling you a wimp or anything...

In any case, before doing the above, shoot the darn thing a couple hundred more times.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

Wilson recommeds shooting 500 rounds to break it in. They get smooth! Don't worry.

                      Next time, don't buy a match-grade gun.

Give your Wilson to me. I will have no issue with cycling that weapon.

cock problem; overly stiff recoil spring; hmmmm well all I can say is if the condition persists for more than four hours seek professional attention as serious damage may result.

I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.

As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.

You touched it. you touched it.

Im assuming when he said cocking he meant cocking by pulling the slide back.
I woudl look and see if something is overly tight or maybe the spring broke or some foreign matter ( sliver of brass casing or primer) got stuck metween the flat sides of moving parts Sort of trying to cut something with a pair of scissors and the scissors cut but ride over the object being cut and it gets stuck between the scissor blades jamming them up
