    Sig Experts - help needed

I finally got a Sig - a P250 Compact. I have 23 questions (so far) and since I am not very familiar with them I though t I would ask the experts here.

    1. The takedown lever is EXTREMELY tight - At first I couldn't move it at all then with a few light taps of a hammer and sever manhandling (almost broke my thumb) I have field stripped the gun several times. But it's not getting any easier as I had hoped. Any suggestions...? Should I just keep waiting for it to get better with use? The entire gun was really tight when I bought it.

    2. Any suggestions for the DAO trigger? It is also my first and it's a very long and spongy pull. The Sig Custom Shop has a package that seems like it may help make it smoother but I'm not so sure. What do the rest of you do with your Sig DAO (non-DAK) pistols - do you make a change or just practice more?

    Thanks!

I had 2 of them, both are now gone. They are great guns but DAO is not my thing. Like anything else in life, practice will make it easier. If you like DAO don't give up on this gun, it is that good. Light, accurate and low recoil; not to mention its a SIG.

Just like with revolvers, the only thing you can do about DA/DAO is practice practice practice..

      And then, practice some more.

OK thanks for the advice guys. I like the P250c so if I can get used to the trigger I'll be golden.

The takedown lever was tight on mine, as well. I figure it's normal.

The trigger being DAO requires practice to get used to.

i am unsure how your sig is made as my experience is with the 229 & 220. A reduced power hammer spring makes a big difference in the trigger pull wieght. Springs can be gotten at midway or brownells as they sell a three spring kit.

The takedown lever on my P226 was very tight for the first 20,000 rounds or so. It did loosen up eventually. I have a few sigs and they all are a little different though.

The DAO is what it is. As someone mentioned, you can put lighter springs on which helps a little, but I have seen that cause reliability problems.

Sigs, all of them, are built with fairly tight tolerances. As they break in they get easier to disassemble. The take down of the P250 line is difficult at first but will get better as you get some rounds through the gun.

The DAO trigger pull is something I have found takes some getting used to. Because I have always had the DA/SA Sigs, I didn't like it when I first shot the P250. It takes some time to get used to it but I do like it now. The trigger also breaks in and will get a better feel to it.

yeah the takedown levers can be pretty tight, spraying in some lube really helps.

as far as the dao pull goes, reducing the mainspring weight will reduce the trigger pull, but it can also lead to light primer strikes. If its just a range gun thats not that big a deal. Lower power mainsprings in 1911s can affect the gun's timing (how long the breech stays locked for - because the slide has to push the hammer back while it is retracting) but I'm not sure if its as big an issue in sigs.
