    First 1911..

First time on this board..glad to be a member. I'm really warming up to purchasing my first 1911 I was leaning toward the kimber brand in particular their "custom II" model. Any thoughts on kimber? Good..Bad? Let me know folks. Thank you.

I have a Kimber TLE II, that was my first 1911. I really like the gun, they are accurate, well made guns. the only problems I had was with the kimber mag, I had a couple of FTF. But the gun has been reliable with GI/ChipMcCormick/Wilson mags, Kimber also made frames for Wilson, too, so they are a quality product. btw, nice bike

I looked at the Kimber 1911s, and ended up getting a Sig GSR 1911.Take a look at the GSR as well. Similar price range as the TLE II.

BTW Kimbers are nice.. I have a Kimber Tactical Pro II, and like it very much. But like the Sig more.

Buy a Springfield, its the way 1911s are supposed to be (no firing pin/series 80 type safety)

            Welcome to Calguns Ducati.
My one and only 1911 is a Kimber a TLE/RL. I have several handguns and my Kimber is the favorite.
The black Kimbers are coated with a black oxide and it does wear off. Some call this character, I call it a crappy finish. I sent mine back to Kimber complaining. They replaced all the worn parts. Its all worn in the same places now, so I call it character
The gun is accurate to say the least and Ive never had a fail to fire. I use it as my bed side gun, Wilson Combat 8 rnd mags, Hogue grip and Surefire x200 light.

Looks and fits like it belongs in your hand...

I have a TLE/RL as well. I like it very much. It seems to me like it shoots for it self. Just point and pull the trigger. A friend here at CGN hit a glowstick at a easy 25yrds at night on his 1st shot. I told him great shot. He said it was the gun

If I were only going to have one 1911, it would be a Kimber. I have an original series stainless, an Eclipse II, and a Compact CDP II. I also have two Springfields. All are great guns, but my carry guns are the Kimbers. I haven't had any problems with them at all. No problems with the Springfields either, but I have several friends that have had problems with the Springfields. Seems like luck of the draw with Springfields. This could be isolated to the guys I know but I haven't run into anyone with problems on Kimbers. My $.02

I have a Pro Carry HD. It's a very well put together gun.
