I am not a fan of theirs but river city gun exchange might be able to tell you. I would take a picture or several of it to them and ask their opinion since they deal with a lot of assault type rifles. Once you turn a gun over to a FFL it is gone if it is illegal. I have to assume you got this rifle through a private deal and did not go through an FFL so technically that is a no-no. An FFL drosed exchange would have told you if it was legal if they handed it over to you after the ten day wait. Good luck -
Well it is up to the seller or builder of the rifle to make it 922r compliant from my understanding. Unless you have physically changed something on it then it is not on you or the FFL to check it. However it is always good to know if your rifle is legal or not according to 922r. Someone correct if I am wrong

is it an Intrac rifle? Mine appears to be all romanian, no US parts. I believe you have to make it 922r if you modify it in any way (change stock etc...).Comment

There are no pre-89 ban (922r) Romanian AK's. Everyone must be made 922r compliant. There are pre 1998 ban on cap. to accept high cap mags though.sigpic

Read 922(r) again.
Unless YOU are the one assembling the rifle you are not breaking any laws. Nowhere in the law does it say that POSSESSION or TRANSFER of a "non-compliant" firearm is illegal."It shall be unlawful for any person to assemble from imported parts any semiautomatic rifle or any shotgun which is identical to any rifle or shotgun prohibited from importation under section 925(d)(3) of this chapter as not being particularly suitable for or readily adaptable to sporting purposes except that this subsection shall not apply to--
(1) the assembly of any such rifle or shotgun for sale or distribution by a licensed manufacturer to the United States or any department or agency thereof or to any State or any department, agency, or political subdivision thereof; or
(2) the assembly of any such rifle or shotgun for the purposes of testing or experimentation authorized by the Attorney General. "
But if you're really nervous about it, you can give it to me.Comment

There have been no prosecution of individuals on 922 compliance.
I have only heard of one assembler (manufacture) prosecuted for this, and that is after a cease and desist order from the BATFE that they ignored.
I believe it was eventually settled by administrative action instead of criminal, though it was painful for them as their website and business went Kaput and they were not selling their firearms for about a year.
It is near impossible to determine if a rifle was assembled per compliance as there is no requirement for marking of the parts.
When this 922 hysteria swept across America I was suckered into buying some TAPCO parts so as to put a normal buttstock onto my MAK. The fire control parts were not marked and looked just like a European type fire control parts (instead of the Chinese) and there was no way I could prove they were made in the USA.
Of course we are always fearful of another Doritos's memo where a fat over weight diabetic lazy government bureaucrat puts in writing another interpretation of existing laws like they did a few years back when they took the law about modifying a C&R by name revoked the C&R status (understandable since it is by name) and retroactively applied it to C&R over 50 years age (it is still over 50 years old even if modified so why a different interpretation after all these years of that old law, except it helped the anti-constitutional gun grabbers).
If these memo's that are stated to be law are not fought (like was done recently with OLL's) then it eventually is accepted as law by supporting courts and administrative actions. This I think is the fear for those with rifles made of parts not stamped "USA".
As was stated you are not breaking any laws buying or owning a rifle assembled with to many foreign parts. The risk is of another illegal "Doritos's MEMO" declaring such rifles as contraband to justify confiscation. This is the worse case scenario that I can see happening but so long as people fight these illegal laws being made (the legislature makes laws, bureaucrats enforce them and are not suppose to make them) then like with OLL battle this will never happen.
The whole 922 thing is an 2nd amendment tragedy as the gun grabbers and many US firearms manufactures (wanting government protection from cheap imports) went to bed together (thanks Bill Ruger) and had an aborted fetus that was this 922 thing and the thankfully dead for now AW/high cap ban.Comment
