I don't know about everyone else but around here going to the range can get pricey. What do you all do to help keep the price down?

Range junkies, how do you keep costs down?

I shoot twice a week and only shoot centerfire on one of those trips. I save money anywhere I can. I became a member at a local range for $40/year, after that a range fee is only $2.
I mostly shoot 22lrs. Steel targets are a great investment and a ton of fun, I rarely buy paper targets. If I shoot at paper, I usually print them or shoot at 2x2 inch pieces of blue painters tape.Comment

I love my Mosin Nagants, and even though the ammo is not that expensive, I bring along a .22 to shoot to make my ammo last longer. I can shoot all day and the .22 ammo seems to go forever.
Fire off a 150 rounds of 7.62x54r and maybe a 9mm pistol to mix it up a bit and you got a good day at the range.Comment

I reload for my pistols and rifles, shoot a lot of 22 and work at the range on the weekends.I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.
As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.Comment

My 22LR pistol is my new favorite gun unfortunately.
For centerfire, I can't remember the last time my 1911 got any love.

But I love the smell of both....

I have a range membership.
I buy in bulk when I see good deals. (I don't currently reload, but I should)
But the best cost saver was the purchase of a Browning Buckmark. I can throw a lot of lead down range on the cheap with that and focus on my fundamentals before I pick up the .40 or the .45
I'll easily put a couple hundred or more of .22lr downrange and then maybe only do 50-100 of the 'bigger stuff'
I feel like I actually shoot more now, and don't spend as much money (by going through the pricier ammo faster)

Most clubs let you shoot at a better rate if your a member so do that and start reloading"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." - Thomas JeffersonComment

For shooting enthusiasts there is no such thing as actually saving money. Reloading has greatly reduced my per-round cost which just means i shoot more. We can save money on a per-round or per range trip basis, but we'll just shoot more every time.Originally posted by wildhawkerCalguns Foundation: "Advancing your civil rights, and helping you win family bets, since 2008."
