    Visiting California

Hey Gunners we are two British Royal Air Force guys travelling all the way down the west coast of America. We are taking a month to do it. I'm 30 and my friend is 23. We are looking to shoot some of the great firearms you guys have over there but not sure where to go. We have no particular plans for our trip so are flexable with where we go and how much time we spend in places. Look forward to hearing from anyone that can help us. Cheers. Matt

Ha, awesome post. Wish I had more stuff to show off. Just make sure you end up with someone who owns hi-cap mags.

Most indoor ranges will rent most popular handguns with proper ID. Look at yahoo for listings on Shooting Ranges in the cities you wish to visit.
Las Vegas, Nevada has ranges that rent machine guns if you are interested. Again, Yahoo should list ranges.
For range use, Hi Cap mags are not necessary. You simply have to reload more often.
      Happy Travels.

Nevada and Arizona have way more options for renting and shooting. If you are going through Phoenix AZ, I would check out:
Discover the best gun store near me at Scottsdale Gun Club in AZ. Shop firearms, accessories, and get expert advice at Arizona’s trusted gun shop.

I can't think of anything that wonderful in CA that also rents guns. Just be careful what neighborhood you visit. Not all ranges are in the best places. If you post what cities you will be in I bet you can get some great recommendations.

Welcome to our state! I would concur with others, try out neighboring states such as Arizona or Nevada. They have all the cool stuff you can try out such as full autos. If you just want to shoot some ARs and pistols, Iron Sights in Oceanside can help fulfill that.

Where in CA are you visiting? We can narrow down some ranges you can stop by.

Check the forum for people selling Front Sight, Nevada training certificates, and go to Front Sight and sign-up for a m-16 or uzi course. People sell certificates for &100-200+. They will provide the weapon, but you will have to pay for ammo.

You can see a lot in a month. Try to find a "Friends of the NRA" dinner or club event. You'll meet a lot of great people and probably get a few invitations to shoot.

But you might want to draw out a basic flight plan. Things and areas you'd like to see, then put some tentative dates on them. (like Golden Gate bridge, Alcatraz, Wine country, Monterey Aquarium, Disneyland, etc. There are lots of places to shoot and the local folks will usually be very hospitable in allowing you to shoot the toys at one of the ranges or desert.

Drop me a PM if you get to the San Jose/Mountain View area.

p.s. My dad was at RAF Mildenhall in '68-69, so would be nice to offer a taste or two to return the favor.

If you get to the North San Diego County Area, let me know.
I'll take you to the local indoor range where we can shoot my AR, M1A Scout, Saiga 7.62, Mossberg 590A1, Wilson Combat Protector, Kimber Warrior, Beretta M9 and my colt Combat Commander if it's back from coating in time.
