I just hate Ammo Bros. I just can never go there to pick up ammo. Went there today to pick up some Wolf ammo only to find that they had a big event/sale going on with sales reps from different gun companies. Haven't been there in almost two months and when I arrived, I saw the large Springfield Armory/Ruger/Winchester trailer truck parked outside. Ammo Bros also relocated to a much much larger shop on the other end of the building. My kids and I hopped into the SA trailer to check out all the guns. BTW, I fell in love with the SA TRP 1911 that they had on display. They had pistols and long guns of all sorts including ones that aren't even on the CA approved list including the Ruger Mk III 22/45 RP model which is not in the CA DOJ approved list. Walked into the store past the Calguns booth outside and it was like walking into a CVS store for guns only. If you haven't been to the new place, it will surprise and amaze you at how big the place is for a gun shop, atleast to me it is. Lots of inventory plus lots of open and extra spaces for more merchandise.
They had different reps from different gun companies. Spoke to the rep from Ruger who was very nice and helpful even with non Ruger related stuff. I asked about the new 22/45 with the replacement grips for CA and he replied that it's already been submitted and close to approval and we should see it sometime soon. I checked out the M&P 45 that I have been eyeing for a year now, when a guy walked up to me to help me out. I told him how much I love and want this gun but on the fence after reading about some triggers being too gritty and rough, more than the norm. And also told him that when buying this I have found on my multitude of research that the best thing to do before purchasing it is to test the trigger carefully first as some triggers may be plagued with that problem. The display gun he was showing me happened to have that nasty gritty trigger. It was crunching and loud and felt almost like a three stage trigger if it existed with sand on it. It wasn't a smooth pull. It would bump stop a bit and vibrate due to the grinding. Showed it to him and he agreed and he explained to me the possible causes, etc, but he told me that it is not a common thing that they have encountered. Of course I've heard this line before especially from Sig's CS. Well he brought out a new one from the back and had me test the trigger on it. And it was good, atleast for an M&P. This one had a nice smoother trigger pull to it. Still a typical M&P trigger but still decent. This whole time I am giving my opinions to him, I just noticed his shirt and realized that I was talking to a S&W rep, and not a store employee. Showed both store employee and the rep the price from a "chain" store that had it on sale priced alot less than theirs. First, the employee said they probably can't match it but he'll ask. The rep personally talked to the manager, came back to tell me the manager (probably Francisco) said "we can't match the price but we'll sell it to you for $*** price", which was lower than the competitors sale price. Had to get this gun of course.
All the reps were nice and friendly especially of course the S&W rep (forgot his name). The thing is, I still have my M&P 15-22 that I bought last week in jail and now just got this M&P 45. And I have that SA 1911 TRP lingering in my head. Last time I bought a Saiga there, I ended up dros'ing an M1A during my Saiga pick up. Now you know why I hate gun stores especially Ammo Bros. But everyone should check out their new shop and sales. And the reps and trailer should be there Saturday but they are closed on Easter Sunday.
