    Aerosol solvents and new firearms

I had a real scare yesterday when I cleaned my new Walther p22 for the first time. After spraying down the slide with the winchester stuff it turned all grey and mottled looking. Fortunately it (the grey discoloration) came right off after wiping it down with oil. The spray in question destroyed the vinyl top on the card table and now I'm wondering how the plastic fantastic frames and synthetic stocks will react to some of these solvents??

Was it the winchester break free CLP? My buddy accidentally got some on the finish of his Mosin, and it ruined it . I've used it on polymer guns with no ill effects, but I'd be wary of anything that ruins finishes like that.

I don't use any of the spray solvents on anything that isn't metal. I found out the hard way that Gunscrubber destroys plastic trigger assemblies.

Most of these type will turn plastic kinda white.
Use it on bare metals only to be safe.

One person used it on GSG5 and it removed the finish bit time.
'Cuz big holes are easier to see.

I welcome it. How else would I learn.
