Thinking about taking a job out of state.

Hello, I have been contemplating offers for work outside our state. In the current job market climate, one can't be to choosey. I was just wondering how our neighboring states (Oregon, Arizona, Nevada) have for gun contol laws, especially in the "high/standard" cap mag and "assault" rifle areas. If you had to pick, which one would you choose?

In this economy, you have to go where the work is. If I had to relocate tomorrow for work I'd be gone and my wife would be getting our house packed up and ready to be a rental property.

And to my knowledge there are pretty much no, California like, eeee-vil laws in those three states. All three are 'shall issue' CCW as well and Arizona allows LOC, as I recall.

It would be prudent to consider not only moving but acquiring some acreage to make camp on in case something breaks out.

Best advice yet. Even if it's never 'needed' for anything more than a relaxing long weekend. And if something bad happens (quake, economic collapse, whatever) it never hurts to be a resident instead of a refuge.

All 3 states have pluses and minuses. You simply have to decide what minuses are worth tolerating. I picked AZ mainly because I have family here and it's dirt cheap. I can afford to travel all I want and buy what I want but I am still considering other states for full retirement. The only minuses so far are the heat and ugly scenery as I an used to San Francisco/Sonoma weather and views.

Well as far as liberal firearm laws are concerned, I take it Arizona is the best? How does it differ from Nevada and Oregon?

Look at handgunlaw.org ar some other organization to get the differences between the three states.

The Brady website lists the following scores:
                            California 79/100
                            Oregon 17/100
                            Nevada 9/100
                            Arizona 2/100

The lower the score, the better your 2A rights are protected. I guess AZ will be a 1 or 0 in a few weeks.
