Glock Gen4 Information

Thought I would post this as I saw some questions about what is and isn't a Gen 4 Glock. The RTF2 is considered a Generation 3.5. The Gen 4's were released a few months ago and are not on the list yet. The only way to purchase one is if you're an LE or a FTF PPT. Here are some highlights of the new Gen 4. I'm waiting to swap my Gen 3.5's as soon as these become available. I'm sure other Glock Afficionados will correct any errors I've made or omissions I may have excluded.

Features duel recoil spring which should increase reliability
Features Swappable backstraps
Magazine release swappable between left and right
Old magazines still work, but only when mag release is on left side
Gen4 slide is clearly marked as "Gen4"
Glock will cease sales of the 3rd Generation and RTF models

if glock ceases sales of the Gen3, then they better put the Gen4 on the roster before they stop production.

They come with three standard Gen4 magazines:


There is a MBS (Modular Back Strap) stamp, at the SF location on a G21SF:


And the grip is less harsh than the RTF2 models. I loves me Glock17GensFo'.

Actually, the RTF2 is just a frame option for the third generation Glocks.

There are currently four different frame options that can be had on the third generation Glocks.

#1) OD = glock Olive Drab frame color
#2) SF = Short Frame
#3) MB = aMBi-magazine release
#4) RTF2 = Rough Textured Frame version 2

The standard third generation Glock frame has RTF texture.
The RTF2 is a more aggresive texture than the RTF and was created in response to LE request for use in humid/wet enviroments.
The Gen4 Glocks has the RTF3 texture, which is in between the RTF and RTF2.

I take it no one shot the GSSF match a couple weeks ago? there was some rumors being spread around by the glock armorers about glocks and the roster. the general consensus was get it now if you really want it, But ill believe it when i see it.
