Pmag 10/30 11th round crammed in question

I was at the gun show today and shared my table with a person (I dont know) who had the 10/30 pmags. I asked to see one. After he gave it to me I asked if I can try to load 11 rounds. He said "sure". So I inserted 10 rounds and pushed the top of the 10th round down. It moved about 1/8th of an inch. Not enough to fit the 11th round. So I took one more bullet and pushed hard. It went in and bulged the feed lips out a bit but it held the 11th round like a normal round.. I dont think the mag would have gone into the magwell. I also dont think the bolt would have fed the round.

    Opinions?

you were the one that forced it to accept the 11th round. it is blocked off to hold 10 with a lil bit of space to allow reloads with bolt closed and full mag.

i mean hey, i bet i can fit all 30 rounds into a 10/30 mag if i used a hammer, does that make it illegal? no, will the mag be useable.... most likely not

I doubt even in a delusional state you could force 30 rounds into the mag. But as I proved with a TINY BIT OF EXTRA pressure the 11th round pops right in. Does the law state the mag has to be "USABLE" of just incapable of excepting no more than 10 rounds?

          What does the law state?

I have the same issue with the same question, maybe this should be moved to the 2A forum.

This is called being very overly paranoid.

If you FORCE an 11th round in so much that it fits, but prevents the magazine from functioning, that's still a 10-round magazine.

You say a "tiny bit of extra pressure", but then you admit that the feed lips were bulged out and the mag might not even fit into the magwell. That's not a tiny bit of extra pressure. That's forcing the round in beyond the normal pressure required and you're in essence making the magazine malfunction.

              That's not an 11-round mag.

But for the ultra-paranoid, just stick with the little C Products shorty 10's.

From what I have been hearing through the grapevine, DOJ/other LE Agencies have been doing the 11 round test, and if they can fit an 11th round in there then you are not going to have a good day.

Could be FUD, could be true. I always err on the side of caution as I don't have $20k for a legal defense.

I ran into the same problem with the Lancer 10 round ags I got in today. They are 10 round bodies, but you can fit an 11th round in there and the mag will still lock into the magwell.

Time to send them all back to Lancer.
