The unit is working like it should. I don't worry about casings rubbing against each other and sometimes that does leave a slight mark or ring, but I would not let important parts touch as the finishes may get rubbed off. Spreading them out usually works just fine.
Yes, I have done small parts including pistol barrels. You should dry out all the parts, either by compressed air or towel and a heater; is spite of protective coatings gun parts still rust.
Have you used the sonic cleaner to clean BCG or other small ar15 parts(not ammo casings)? As for now, this is why i plan on getting the sonic cleaner to clean those smaller items.
If you do clean bcg or other smaller items, couldn't you dry them with a towel and air dry the rest? Or does it need to be completely dry? I figured the gun manufactures put on these coating would keep it from getting rusted
