    1911's?

I have a couple rifles but now I'm looking towards buying my first handgun and after shooting a few different handguns I completely fell in love with 1911 .45.. I've heard different suggestions of what brand to go for such as Kimber, springfield, sig, and s&w.. I prefer the basic build of the gun so I don't really plan to do a lot of custom mods on the gun. Any suggestions for what would be a good starter 1911? And possibly why?

    Thanks

Springfield Milspec or Colt NRM Government would be your 1911. Both are very similiar, with the lowered ejection ports, larger GI sights, and larger tang grip safety. They're as basic as it gets with quality parts. The Colt will have the pony and beautiful brushed bluing vs Springfield's matte parkerized finish.

Oh yeah, even cheaper in price you can pick up a Rock Island GI.

an excellent starter 1911 is the Springfield Mil-Spec, if you want to start higher up the ladder (fewer parts to throw away if you decide to build it up) i'd highly recommend one of the Dan Wessons

I agree with the Springfiled Armory Mil-Spec. I have a Staines Steel one and really enjoy the way it shoots. I also have a Les Baer Premier II and it is quite a bit nicer, but then again it cost quite a bit more.

i think you should start with something other than the Camaro of handguns. IF I were to get a 1911 i would get a Kimber. My buddy has one and it shoots pretty nice.

SA Loaded or a Dan Wesson PM7 will be my first 1911.

I think a Glock is calling my name this weekend.

I have a colt 70... with a lot of work, kimber custom carry II, and a springer GI, if I had it to do over again, i would have started with a springer mil spec

                            I don't really consider a Loaded as a "starter".

Just my suggestion as OP wanted something he doesn't have to upgrade. I consider SA GI's, RIAs, and such to be project guns because the people I know that own them are not satisfied with its original "basic" parts. With a loaded, and its fairly modest pricing, at least the OP gets a good package "as is" that doesn't really need any upgrading.
