    Just thought I'd share...

I was inspecting a CETME at the gun shop the other day and I asked the owner if he had a light so that I could inspect the bore. He went in the back and came back with a little thing called a Barrel-Lite. Its a cheap little piece of plastic, but it works great! Its just a bent piece of plexiglass/plastic that takes ambient light from the room and bends it up into the barrel of the gun. Its like a fiber-optic cable. It was $4 at this shop and really useful. I'm guessing its probably a common tool in gunshops, but I had never seen one. Pretty neat little thing. Thought I'd bring it to your attention in case you are clueless like me.

here's a pic so you know what I'm talking about.

I've got one in my range box that I bought in the early 80's. It works especially well on any guns that you cannot remove the bolt on.

Another option: RCP Enterprises makes fiber optic adapters that fit over the end of AA Mag-lites. It also fits just fine on my Surefire executive or L2. The 20" version is only ~$10 at Frys ( http://shop1.outpost.com/product/322...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG ). I find it nice for inspecting further along in the barrel, putting the light where I want it so to speak.

The ambient light will also reflect off a fingernail stuck in the action while you're looking down the barrel. Works in a pinch to inspect the bore, be careful not to release the action while your finger is in there though.

If I really want to light it up, I'll unscrew the reflector off a Mini-Mag Light and stick the bulb in there.
