Whats the procedure for a family member to give a firearm to another family member? Are there forms and fees involved? This topic came up in a discussion last night so now I'm looking for info. Thanks Josh

I don't believe you need to do anything for a long gun, but for a handgun, you need to fill out an intra-familial handgun transaction form. See here. The fee is $19, and you need an HSC. The handgun can only go up or down family lines, not across. Grandfather to granddaughter, father to son, etc are okay, but brother to sister, uncle to nephew, etc are not okay. Thats my understanding, but somebody will come along and correct me if I'm wrong. -
