How do you guys transport your spotting scope?

I'm curious how everyone transports their spotting scope to and from the range. I've always wrapped mine in a fleece blanket and put it into a backpack, but I'm looking for a more efficient way of transporting. Also to note, I want to transport my Manfrotto 7302YB tripod as well.

Do you use a hardcase such as a Pelican or Storm case?
Do you toss it into your toolbox?
    Do you use a backpack?
Do you just carry it with you?

Any ideas to carrying your spotting scope and tripod other than a backpack? I do want to protect the spotting scope while transporting. Wrapping it in a blanket before putting it into a backpack didn't seem to protect it much.

I'm on the fence about using a Pelican case since I hate hard cases, they take up too much space and weight in the trunk.

Lemme know your methods of transportation. Thanks everyone.

Yes, hard case. I transport (almost) everything in hardcases if I can help it.
Yes, it is a bit inconvenient, but I've never had any damages happen to my stuff during transport.

Especially w/ spotting scopes, you never have to carry them too far from a bench. My tripod has its own carry bag; I also have a short tripod that's inside the scope case.

Oh, I should add that I also have a cheap spotting scope and a pair of binoculars that is in their own soft case that goes into my range bag. These things are needed for pistol work sometimes. So I guess you have to balance between replacement cost and convenience.

As for tripod bag, go to a camera store and they'll have shoulder carry bags for tripods.

One thing I've found is to observe and talk to match shooters since they deal w/ transport a lot. Go to a high power match where pretty much everybody will have a spotting scope and check out how they do it. Some will use very heavily padded softcase, but most will use hard cases.. because scopes are expensive and sensitive to bumps.

Mine rides in the pelican case with my rifle. It's tripod just goes in my range bag with the other misc. stuff.

I typically just throw it and the tripod in a large duffle with some of my other gear.

Not worried about banging your spotting scope out of collimation? Am I thinking too much into it? Thanks.

It seems to work just as well now as the day I got it; it's probably at least 15 years old and fairly inexpensive also at around $100 so I'm not too worried about it.

I usually keep it attached to my scope stand and attach it to my shooting stool/cart when moving to or between firing points.

I put mine in my range bag on top of everything else. I just have to remember not to hit the top of my range bag with a hammer. That's a pretty easy thing not to do.

in a locked container such as the trunk or backpack that you can lock... oh wait
in it's soft case, in a box with other gear.

i just got a spotting scope and am dealing with the same concern. i have it in a padded backpack that i used to use for my dslr. it barely fits diagonally but i figure a snug fit will prevent it from rolling around in there.

Mine came with its own foam padded, hard sided case. Not bad for a cheap scope to begin with.

i got the konuspot 80 on sale from B&H. the tripod feels weak and the bag it came with useless. i haven't taken it to the range yet.

I dunno what the big deal is. Just google. They sell spotting scope specific cases if you're that worried. They even have soft ones if you don't like the weight/size of hard.

This one even allows you to strap the bipod on the side.

Mine goes in the soft case it came with. I have the hard case but don't usually bring it. Then it just goes into my range bag along with the tripod.

I have a cheapo Winchester one.
