.223/5.56 question!

The exception is the ruger mini14 in 223 . You can shoot 5.56 in it.

The exception to this is the Mini 14 Target model. Ruger chambered this model in .223 to improve accuracy. I don't know if they ever changed it but when the Target model first came out the manual said you could fire .223 and 5.56. I called Ruger about this and they told me the manual was incorrect. You should only fire .223 in the Target model.

I've only shot 5.56(military) and now that I have a personal AR15, I see that .223 is cheaper yada yada, so I wanna make sure my 5.56 mags will load .223 no problemo.
Will they(generically speaking)?

Somewhat on topic, if you have a .223 marked barrel, can you have it "re-bored" to 5.56 or .223 Wylde by a gunsmith? I was hoping you could, but after seeing the chart posted by rp55 and seeing both + and - dimension differences, I'm guessing "no".

Yes AR mags should feed both 5.56 and .223 with no problems. The cases are the same or at least real close, the main difference is the chamber on your gun and the pressure the round produces.

Yes.

5.56 guns can easily handle .223, but not the other way around.
