Forcing his right upon others makes him look like an A-Hole. Traffic stops are a high risk activity, the officers are on high alert, and this guy decides to walk toward them with a gun.

I hope he decides to open carry at the entrance of a high security facility. Watching that on video will be priceless.

The Open Carry Cameraman is an idiot but the cops turned out to be liars and idiots and they are held to a higher standard than a random idiot. Plus if the cop was so concerned when he walked up on his traffic stop
he should have drawn down on him and proned him out and called for back-up code 3. I do not think the cop even saw the gun until he was following him.

Actually I understand exactly where the cop is coming from. Cop is doing his job enforcing the law and this jerk walks up like he has issues with the guy. Put yourself in the cops spot. Now, not knowing whether the guy is mentaly stable/unstable should the cop just let him walk pass or try to dig more.

In this situation, had you been the cop, would it be wrong for you to "fish" for information? The video itself states that the cops can lie to you... no legal obligation... or something to that effect.

If I was a GOOD cop, then I'd understand every law requiring open carrying in my state.

I do hope those two officers do go back to their superiors and get more direction/training on similar situations.

But then again, I'd become anti gun...only allowing LEOs to open carry and pushing more laws to suppress law abiding citizens to do the same thing to me as what that dude did to the SF cops.

Its a catch 22. I understand that I have the RIGHT to open carry and for day to day I think that it could be a fine idea. To put yourself in potentially harms way and walk up to a scene with a gun and a camera is just plain dumb. To see what these cops do everyday is something else altogether. I'm not law enforcement but I have a few close friends on the local side and some family elsewhere and I wouldn't put it past anybody to put a bullet in a cops head. They have to watch out for number one and want to go home to their family every night and doing crap like this isn't helping the cause one bit. Sure you are exercising your right but at the same time do it in an honorable fashion not a protagonistic type of way. He was only doing it for the shock value and the youtube status.
