Recommend a flashlight to use at Frontsight

Going to Frontsight for a 4 day defensive handgun course next month and will need a flashlight and belt holster for the night shoot portion. Hoping someone who has been there can made a recommendation.

Wife, son, and I are all three going, so costs are multiplied 3X. I'm thinking that cost effectiveness outweighs tacticool factor here. Just need something to get the job done and maximize training effectiveness.

Surefire 6P basic or LED for a tad more...make sure you take a bunch of 123 batteries with you!

I'll probably get flammed for this, but since you'll need three, get three packs of the Costo flashlights. That will give you six lights, two for each of you in case one goes down. Heck, be safe and get four packs, that will give you eight lights for the cost of one Surefire. When you get home you'll have a light for everyone's car and a few for the house.

You can probably find a generic holder at a sporting good store. Since everything is x3, I wouldn't worry about the tacticoolness, as you have already said.

Oh, and they run on AAA batteries, so pick up a pack of those from Costco too! Again, a lot cheaper than 123's.

      Have fun.

You won't need a light for more than an hour or so and even then they are very strict on usage... Lights=bullet magnets so they train to use seldomly.

They have loaners for you if you choose not to take one. For the class any rear push button light will do.

        Have fun!

Looked all over my local Costco this past weekend for those and couldn't find them. My son pointed out where he had seen them before and they were gone.

This might be a little bulky, but the reason why I posted this one is that I find the color rendition with warm LED to be much better than your standard LED. While this may have less lumens than other LED, because of the warmth you actually can see more.

Plus this Fenix doesn't have all these crazy strobe/SOS modes that would be frustrating to deal with if you pushed the rear button more than once.

I've never understood why Frontsight prefers the 6P over the G3...I like the plastic better.

Have you found a way to mount them?

I like the Surefire G3 LED for combo of performance with cost-effectiveness.

Cost effectiveness...get a Surefire G2 for under 40. If there is a lot of usage of the lights then a G2 LED is better for battery life.

Yup, you will barely use the thing. Get a Surefire G2, it's a great light for around 40 bucks.

If you're not going to use mount this to a rifle or pistol, I would go with the Fenix T-series lights. It's ridiculously bright and relatively inexpensive for an LED.

I can stare at a G2 full on and not be that distracted. With the Fenix, even with eyes closed I have to look away. It's that bright.

Any recommendations for a flashlight in the $20 each range? Would a mini mag light work with an end cap switch installed? Here is an example: http://www.cyberguys.com/product-det...roductid=10224

                            Thoughts?
