    Go ahead...let me have it.

Today I was witness to over 500 firearms going into the incinerator. I know I have witnessed a horrible thing and worse yet I was part of the destruction process. So go ahead and let me have it about what I have done. But, I was just following orders....

I don't think I could have been the one to hit the release button to drop all those guns to their demise. I mean most of them were junk, but I did see a legit Uzi in the pile...It was painful to be there.

That's the way I have to look at it...
I have a bunch headed for the chopper in the property room... I managed to scrounge about 75 for "training" but the rest have to go to the chopper...fortunately most are single shot H&R shotguns ... not anything special...the special are kept for training....

When I was in the academy we had training pistols that were recovered from property.

They were all revolvers of some type that have had their barrels plugged but were operational enough to fire percussion type caps.

During our field exams I used a chrome plated 6" Colt Python. I pained me to see it in the box with all of the other junk guns but it at least was being used for a good cause.

That is nothing. I have seen the "to be destroyed" pile: Almost new MP-5's, MP-5SD's, Colt SMG's, many like new shotguns and many like new handguns. Many and many of them, a shopping cart full of it, and I could not even salvage any parts, either. It was one of the most painful moment in my memory in my career.
