    Ammunition Market Value

Hey guys, lately with ammo prices everytime I go to a gunshow, shop online, stop in a store and check ammo prices I find myself busting out my cell phone calculator to figure out the price per round...

now when I calculate this number im always at a standstill thinking:

"is .48 cents per round a good price for .45 acp??"

SO is there a way we can compile a list of appropriate ammo prices ranges for different calibers: .45 acp, .223, 5.56

    SUCH AS:

.45 ACP factory/brass case: Low $ - High $ anything over forget it.

.45 ACP reloads/brass case: Low $ - High $ anything over forget it.

.45 ACP Steel case: Low $ - High $ anything over forget it.

Thoughts? I really wish there was a website/ yahoo.com/finance that would work like this.

Go to ammoengine.com This will give you a good idea of prices at various retailers.

good call on this, only issue with this is I have to factor in shipping. which might kill the deals from cheaper than dirt etc :

Thanks for the excel sheet, but kinda confused on how this is working? I put in price per box and then number of boxes so it gives me total price?

You might have noticed that ammo prices are slowly falling back from the huge Obama-gonna-take-my-gun panic of the last year and a half. I'm guessing that prices will continue to fall slowly for another six months or a year. I'm saving my money and using my ammo reserves for now.

                  If it's a box of fifty just double the price and divide by 100. $20 for a box of fifty x 2 = 40 / 100 = 0.40 Forty cents a round. If it's a box of twenty just halve the price and divide by 10. $18 for a box of twenty / 2 = $9 / 10 = 0.90 Ninety cents a round.

Works for me. I have to use a calculator to figure out price per round for a spam can of 440 though.

You can divide add and multiply till you turn blue in the face. if the ammo is hard to find someone is gonna buy it at your price. Asx long as you are not higher than what you can get at a store and you are actually saving a few bucks then someone will buy it. If I needed ammo I would buy it. granted it woudl have to be a little cheaper than what I could get it at the store for but if I needed it I would buy it.
                    Ive been buying 308 for 140$ for 500 rounds and 45 ammo for 25$ 9mm for 12$.

LOL i got a few friends who use that ammo and they buy it by the pallet full. It breaks down to 140$ for 500 rounds. Since they buy som much at one time either they get a discount or the price is that good that they buy it by the pallet. I havent really asked where they get it though. They told me one time but I forgot.

I dont know where they get it. I do know that literally they get a pallet 4 foot tall with ammo. its a bunch of different ammo not just 308. I basically pay for the shipping charges. They're my dads friends. Im going to Reno at the end of the month and Ill swing through Vegas and ask my dad how he gets it. Im not trying to be secretive or anything. if I knew I would say. I do know he said you gotta buy a lot to get that kind of discount. They may have some sort of LEO/retired LEO discount i don't know. My dad lives in nevada so maybe that makes a difference I dont know
