California gets an A- on gun control laws

    http://www.stategunlaws.org/viewstate.php?st=CA I'm utterly shocked.

I'm moving to Idaho sometime this summer. http://www.stategunlaws.org/viewstate.php?st=ID. With all the children dieing due to lax gun control, err, I mean safety, I'm surprised the state just doesn't die out.

Well, the fact is that politicians don't get votes via logic, but an emotional public. Work 'em up, throw out some platitudes, get the votes.

FL was a C, until they enacted the "stand your ground law" which has been given the name "Shoot first law"

AK and ID have pretty much no gun laws whatsoever.

We have a close tie for most restrictive gun laws. Check out massachusetts.

The only reason why CALI got an A- is because all guns are not banned. The ratings is based on a curve. But even then Massachusetts you can actually get an AW permit etc.

California Receives an "A-" on Laws Shielding Families From Gun Violence
I find that amusing, especially since I saw a guy get shoot about 3 months ago and a guy ran threw my backyard during a car chase and was carrying a gun. come to find out he had just shot a guy in front of his family.

Cali laws are doing a wonderful job shielding families from gun violence I can't wait to move.

I used to look on that site to try and find a place to live. I would just find the F states, close my eyes and pick. To bad I never got to actually move anywhere. Oh well, at least for now I have my 3 AR's and an AK in A- Cali! Everyone better watch out, IM A DOER OF EVIL, WITH MY AK AND AR, NO ONE IS SAFE! NOT EVEN YOUR CHILDREN!

California has an A-, and is tied with states like MA, but I think CA is a little better than these other states because:

            (1) CA has no gun license requirement (MA requires 5 year license for all guns and ammo)
            (2) The OLL situation
            (3) In MA you need a "may issue" permit from the police to own or shoot any handgun
            (4) AB2728 prevents new guns from being added. In MA they added the M1A, for example.
            (5) Hi cap is >10 rounds, while in MA hi cap is >5 rounds.
            (6) There are A LOT MORE handguns on the approved roster because CA is a much bigger market and most manufactures don't bother even getting their guns approved for smaller states.
            (7) MA requires storage in a safe or with trigger lock. CA only requires this if you have children around.
            (8) There is mandatory theft/loss reporting
            (9) You can't buy ammo over the Internet
            (10) You need a "firearms" license to even own pepper spray (somebody told them that the peasants used pepper spray in 1917 to try to through off the Bolshevik revolution)
            (11) $100 non-refundable fee to apply for a license
            (12) License can take up to 3 months to receive
            (13) mandatory safety class required, which can cost up to $350.
            (14) Total gun registration and tracking (required to report current address, S/N and models for all guns)

So basically MA is an example of what would happen to CA if the Dems got their way on every possible proposed bill. There is no gun control debate in MA, it was settled in 1998. On the other hand, one benefit of the MA model is that if you DO get the handgun license, it allows you to own hicap rifles. But some good your 120 round Beta-C drum mag is going to do you when you can't own a AW.

Fortunately, the Brady Bunch claims on their website that CA's HSC is identical to MA's license requirements, but I can tell you there are HUGE fundamental differences in the two. Thats total bull****--but at least they arn't doing their cause of banning guns any favors by saying so.

So to give CA and MA the same rating is kind of stupid. OK, in theory you can get a machine gun or AW permit in MA, but nobody is going to give you one, so it doesn't matter.

Don't worry, you were already blacklisted by the Democrats when you bought your despicable handgun and your terrible semiauto trap shotgun.

Umm, who cares? They both suck, badly. It's like saying what's worse, heroin or methamphetamine? They are both very, very bad. Just like the gun laws of MA and CA are both very, very bad, and need to be changed.

Please don't take this as an attack against you, I just don't like the idea of saying one is better than the other, when both are completely ridiculous.

At least methamphetamine can be used for something good. (Medically) What can the CA AWB do that is good?

I'll have you know, the CA AWB has saved an uncountable number of children.

Damn, I'd hoped that OLLs and bullet tip mag releases would have dropped us to at least the B range.

Alright Royta, I will not bother to volunteer my time again in the future to provide some insight into what the differences are between MA and CA and where CA is headed. If you can't see the significance of the issue, then you must be blind. There are pretty large fundamental differences between the two. CA still holds on to the right to keep arms in some sense, while MA has a totally different perspective--in MA it is viewed as a privilege just as driving a car is. Sorry, this is a bit too much of an abstract concept for some to follow. Its not quite as tangible as "is gun X banned or not?". Also, MA already has most of the proposals on the floor every year in CA, such as theft reporting and "safe storage", so if you want to know what CA will be like in 5 years, just look to MA.

I hate to break it to you, but CA isn't going the way of TX, so you'll have to clear your mind of these fantasies of a shall issue CA and repealing SB-23.
