i bought some lens from them and they contacted me the next day saying they were not in stock but offered a 10% discount if i waited until it came back into stock or they could just cancel the order. 3 weeks later as quoted i got my item 10% cheaper. i dunno maybe i got lucky.Comment

optics planet has always done me right. Ordered a PVS-14, it was out of stock, they gave me the newer version for the same (lower) price.
Some items were backordered and it did take a while.
I wouldnt hesitate to buy again from them but I do agree on the website data updates, would be nice.C-130Herk and AK-loverComment

I like Opticsplanet's prices. Unfortunately, every time I order something that they show as in stock, it somehow goes out of stock
1 month wait for a NF NXS was worth it though for the 10% discount

Yup, they're 2nd on my list of companies not to deal with... Botach takes 1st place. Though I hear they are doing better, I will never deal with such companies ever again.Comment

They have big point of sale issues they don't seem to care about fixing. I too ordered from them showing in stock, and then was notified later it was out of stock but coming in. Since I didn't need it right away I let it wait. And boy did it for over 8 weeks to then only send me an email saying they won't have it, too bad.
Like I want to actually order from them again after that first experience."Just leave me alone, I know what to do." - Kimi Raikkonen

not again in a hundred years
I would not order from Optics Planet again. Not in 100 years. They refunded my money, but what a big waste of time.Comment

Why is there this kind of a post every time someone reports bad customer service? Obviously if you had good customer service, you didn't have to deal with the company to set anything right. However, it is always during the BAD times - wrong orders, etc. - that customer service is revealed, not when it is peachy.Comment

The only gripe I have with them is that a lot of times they don't have stuff in stock and you have to actually place the order to find out. Kinda annoying but at least they have free ship. I like places where they actually have the quantity available listed. Other than that though, they have a great inventory and presentation.Comment

Three transactions with them all good.Comment

From a business marketing class from way back:Why is there this kind of a post every time someone reports bad customer service? Obviously if you had good customer service, you didn't have to deal with the company to set anything right. However, it is always during the BAD times - wrong orders, etc. - that customer service is revealed, not when it is peachy.
1: It is known that people who have a good or great experience with a company tell, on average, 2-3 people about the experience.
2: It is also known that people who have a bad experience will tell, on average, 10-15 people about the experience.
It's human nature, and now in the age of the internet, it is easier to make your opinion of a company known to a larger audience. However, the same idioms are true: How many "Optics Planet ROX!" threads do you see out there?
I, personally have ordered quite a few items from Optics Planet and never been disappointed. Conversely, I have have terrible service from Cheaper-than-Dirt...
Even the best of companies have bad days, most of the time it can be as simple as the wrong item in the wrong box, compounded by a customer service person who doesn't like the fact that they have to take a lot of abuse from dissatisfied customers for little pay. I know I've had days where people call me for a problem and I could give a rats *** what they think, and I tell them such, knowing that it's my company that will take the heat for it...

I use opticsplanet a lot, mostly because of the free shipping over $30 and there is always a 5% off coupon. Some items like weapon-specific holsters are never in stock and always on backorder. I would say that 75% of the orders I have placed with them are in stock. So I go in with the knowledge that the item may not be in stock, I place an order...if it is not in stock I cancel and place elsehwere....Comment

Optics Planet does SUCK!
I have made quite a few purchases from Optics Planet. All of the purchases took a long time to ship and to make it to their destination. Their sale prices are not even good prices and they often do not have the items that they "say" are "in stock". But, their use of FedEx SmartPost and their willingness to lie are their biggest downfall.
I purchased some Seekins safety selectors from them and they were lost in SmartPost shipping. I wrote them many times to tell them that they were lost and that I wanted new ones sent or a refund and they did neither. I asked Paypal to retract the Payment and they lied to Paypal and provided false information that made it look like the order had been delivered.
They a crooked and vial bunch! Stay away!Comment

Six Year Old Thread Bump of the Week.Originally posted by cockedandglockedGetting called a DOJ shill has become a rite of passage around here. I've certainly been called that more than once - I've even seen Kes get called that. I haven't seen Red-O get called that yet, which is very suspicious to me, and means he's probably a DOJ shill.Comment
