    Fantastic CS by Leupold

I know Leupold gets bashed a lot on the forums, specifically for their Mark 4 line. This is a quick story of my experience with Leupold.

My Mark 4 4.5-14x40 M1 recently started to track incorrectly. Disappointing since I've only owned the scope for a little over a year, but it has seen regular use at the range.

Tracking showed Leupold received the scope on February 20th. A week later (February 28th) a letter shows stating the work will take 15 days to complete. Today at March 8th (just over two weeks), my scope is in my hands. The work order states:

    Visual Inspection 100%
    Reworked Selector
    Reworked Erector System
    Mechanical Inspection
    Complete Internal Inspection

Along with the work order was a checklist of inspections to be performed.

I received quick turn-around and communication, something I find lacking in larger businesses. My intent of this post was to give some positive experience to Leupold, to offset the large number of negative experiences I've seen.

However, if it bites the dust again I'm switching over to another Nightforce.

That's definitely good to know. Were you charged at all?

I've heard Leupold has an excellent history of returning broken scopes. All the Leupold owners rave about it.

Personally, for my money, I'd rather have a scope from a company that doesn't routinely break down and bad customer service from a grumpy repair dept due to lack of work.

The scope was repaired under warranty. I did pay to ship it to them, however they covered shipping back to me. Very fair in my opinion.

This is why I went NF after a couple shoddy Leupy products. Its not the customer service that sucks at Leupold, its the original QC they give their products. They only have good customer service because odds are you will NEED it.

Some of their lines have gotten a bit spotty in recent years relative to QC. But the company built a magnificent reputation of post sale service over decades.

Their policy, pretty much, is if it has their name on it, they will bring it in and fix it. Doesn't matter if it's old or new, active or discontinued. They didn't used to have to fix a lot of stuff on warranty, but I suspect they are doing more lately based on what I see and read.

They are tops. I sent my mark 3 back because I had trouble adjusting it. They not only fixed the problem but they did an upgrade on it and replaced the front bell and one of the dust caps on it because they were nicked.

Glad it worked out for ya. My family has been using the big L for the past 20 years with no problems.

I have sent 2 scopes back to Leupold and was happy with the service.

One was damaged when it and my AR10T decided to try out for the olympic hi dives off my bed when getting ready to load it up for a shooting trip. Landed rignt on the scope. ouch
Smashed the sunshade and chewed up the threads in the objective housing where it threads into plus it wouldn't track. The fixed it up as good as new and it only cost me shipping.

The other was a 3.5x10 MK4 M3 scope I bought used and the owner screwed it up and sold it to me like that. Had a dead spot in the elevation where he turned it past the zero stop. They also fixed that for the cost of shipping.
