1st time at OC Sheriff Range

Had good experience and good time. $7 for 2 hours is pretty cheap. everyone was friendly and nice. one guy did check my gun to make sure it was functioning. but nothing to in-depth. probably took a minute. i also like the range (semi indoor and semi outdoor). i also like the target control. First time I've seen an electronic control. I hate ranges that have the string cuz the target moves around. but ocsd doesn't have it. there's also free targets, which is cool. however, only 5 rnds per mag and you have to pick up your own brass.. there's a lot of trustees there too . lol don't bring anything over a $10 bill...

i've only been to OC indoor range and american shooting center.

    anyone else been there too?

They only let you load 5 rounds per mag? That's just plain dumb!
Well, the fact is that politicians don't get votes via logic, but an emotional public. Work 'em up, throw out some platitudes, get the votes.

Are there other ranges that allow non LEOs to shoot?

If you are an LEO you can load more than 10 per mag...

        I don't go there.

Try going to Insight Shooting Range off of pioneer and the 91. $14 for all day I believe.

well OCSD is open to the public. they say 5 rnds but they don't check. it's just a cheap price and nice range.
i'd go insight but they don't allow holsters

I would never go to a place that wouldn't let me put more than 5 rounds per mag just because of principal.

I mean what do they hope to prevent?

for structured shooting do you really need more than five rounds a mag? Less your Joker, Big Dawg, Spider, or Cheuy blasting off as fast as you can then it shouldnt really be a big deal
When I go to an indoor (which is rare) I sometimes put three to five rounds per mag and go back to basics and fundementals since thats all I really believe an indoor range is really good for anyways.

It's a nice range, well managed, with no dirtbags.

Interesting range with good prices but not being able to bring shotguns or pistol calibered rifles keeps me away sometimes. Also the 5 rd thing bugs me as well as having my guns inspected.

They just usually want to look at semi autos because they have been like 1-2 cases there, one involving a death, where sheriffs employees have had AD's. Don't want defective guns doubling.

I posted extensively about this range on the old calguns.

I also have been to this range and love it just because you dont get the gang bangers or noobs going there....I think they are intimidated...Yeah the 5 rnd rule sucks but if you can only shoot 1 round a second who cares...
