A Gauss rifle is a more appropriate application and would make better use of the idea in my opinion. It's only a short matter of time before this becomes a common firearm, as battery technology is accelerating at a daily rate, due to their use in so many products, even for use in efficient and fast electric cars (like the Tesla). People would like to deride me for my prediction, but I know of other tests in this area, and you can be sure that we will see a new form of BETTER performing firearm that does NOT use gunpowder, in our lifetimes. The brass cartridge/powder versions will still be around, and will still be made in high volume, just as black-powder cap and ball muskets and pistols are still made daily, as are slingshots, as are bows and arrows.
But don't kid yourself or lie to yourself - we are on the edge of seeing completely new firearm technology.

The FAQ saysCO2 is usually 400 fps or so, so maybe 120 fps for this one.The kinetic energy of the projectile as it leaves the barrel is a little more than a CO2 pellet pistol. Though the energy is similar, the Gauss Pistol projectile weighs around 12.5 times more than a lead pellet and travels about 30% as fast. It could definitely cause bodily injury. Never point any weapon, whether turned off or unloaded, at anyone.ARCHIVED Calguns Foundation Wiki here: http://web.archive.org/web/201908310...itle=Main_Page
Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!Comment
