    Holster recommendation for camp

Last year I carried my full size P220 in a serpa while camping. It wasn't bad and I could do it again but I was thinking maybe of changing to a more comfortable holster (for moving/lounging around) or maybe switch to my J-frame for even more concealed comfort.

Think in IWB/thigh/shoulder rig would work better? Besides setting up/taking down camp most of the time is spent lounging sleepily in a camp chair. I imagine anything I pick for this activity will work just fine for any hikes.

    Thanks.

Just my opinion, but an IWB/thigh/shoulder holster won't be nearly as comfortable than a beltslide holster.

The Serpa can be configured for thigh, MOLLE, hip, lower-hip (extension widget), and I am probably forgetting one or two options.

I would imagine IWB with carbon fiber plastic would be uncomfortable on a hike though.

If you're wearing some kind of pack or carrier with MOLLE, perhaps you could mount it on your front for cross-draw? That's what a lot of the infantry types in Iraq do.

I think you will be more comfortable carrying the J-frame in an IWB, than the fullsize. I barely notice my J-frame when I carry it. My P226 in a Serpa is constantly reminding me it is there. Carrying the J-frame will allow you to keep the auto nearby, but not have to deal with the bulk.

Any recommendation on an IWB? Mid-level price as I'll only use it a few times a year.

I'm not sure if this one is too expensive, but it's what I carry. It is by far the most comfortable holster I have worn. Model 100 Professional. It should run about $40.

That looks nice and simple. How does it do if you're sweeating? What about the comfort when you are standing, sitting, reclining, laying down, walking, running, etc?

I've worn it year round for a few years now. It has a roughened back to provide a little friction that doesn't seem affected by any sweaty summer days. Perfect for standing, sitting and reclining on my couch I barely notice it. Walking and running are not an issue. I have never felt the gun even begin to creep in the holster. There is no strap, but the gun is secure in there. I really like that the height of the back leather keeps the gun from touching my body if I'm not wearing an undershirt. I've been through a lot of holsters, and have always had some issue (concealability, comfort, something) but this one is great all around.

the serpa I like a lot. it is so universal as mentioned above. especially with the molle attachment. that rocks.

No love for a Safariland 6004? A lot of guys like these compared to the Serpas.

Not sure which the 6004 is, but I picked up a $160 MSRP Safariland holster for my Sig 229 $16 at Galls when they were going under, and keep meaning to review it. Looks pretty solid though, on a purely visual inspection.

The OP mentioned thigh rig setups, so I gave the most obvious and most commonly used Safariland 6004. But through my experience, any Safariland holsters are great.

Great recommendation on the Bianchi Professional 100.

Where do you wear it? 3:30?
