    So I am going AR...

In an unprecedented move from my resistance to the AR platform, I have finally conceded that it is time for me to go to the Dark Side and get an AR.

grammaton76 is going to help me with it. If everything comes together as planned, I will be using an M16 parts kit with a new lower, probably a JD machine. The parts kit only comes with a .223 barrel so I ended up snagging an FNMI 1:7 barrel locally that I will be using instead.

So yeah... I will come back around for an AK sometime...

Carefull. I thought nothing of AR's till I joined the service. I decided to build one for the hell of it, thought I'd have no use for it . . . . Now I have 5. Don't let the credit card go up in flames!

sounds like it's too late to convince you to stay away from those black rifles... i've never seen a cure for the BRD. Yes, i have the disease arrested but it can come back at any time in a moment of weakness...
run for the hills and lock up your credit cards before it's too late!

What was your resistance to it? I can't think of why any able bodied male shouldn't own at least one. Beats the piss out of that farm implement AK.

Yes, I do have several of both.

I'd recommend carefully inspecting the m-16 parts to make sure all the parts are semi-auto only, the BATFE, can be very picky about an M-16 FCG in an AR-15.

I resisted as well. Carried a couple varieties while in the 82d and just didn't see having one at home for some reason. Now that I finally built one all I can wonder is what the hell was I thinking waiting so long?

                    Enjoy.

I am 1/2 Ukrainian and I like more of the Soviet weapons, especially since they are so cheap to own and I feel that I can be just as effective with a good AK-74 as some people are with their AR-15s. However, I have access to a reloader now and grammaton76 has been slowly breaking me down so yeah...

I will probably get a 5.45 upper or an AK-74 later on to stay in the Soviet spirit

Don't tempt me, though I still have to fulfill my bet with all the ARFCOM naysayers of slinging an AR down the boardwalk. I will be sure to have a photographer and hopefully a girl with me when that happens...

To all the FCG warnings- yeah, that's covered

Welcome to the addiction. If you stop at one, put it in its own safe at night, and don't take it out with other friends who have AR's, you will be fine. But if you ever get a second one or just let it see other AR's, you will find that it has a tendency to accessorize itself and to breed like a rabbit. Consider yourself warned.

Congrats! You won't regret it. Fun to shoot, and accessories out the ying-yang to make it "yours".
