    Scope Question

Hi All, Didn't really know where to put this. Okay here goes. I've never sighted in a scope before. Someone showed me a quite awhile ago but got a case of retarded and forgot. Here are my questions:

    1) The dials on a scope, top and right side, Can someone clarify which direction these help? For instance does the top dial help up and down or right/left?

    2) If your hitting high left, Which direction do you turn the dials?

    3) On the front of the scope you can twist the front lens from 1 - infinitey. What is this for and when would you need to adjust this?

Sorry if I sound like a goof. TIA, Joe

Does the scope have any markings in the dials? Did you read the instruction manual?

Here's some good articles from http://www.chuckhawks.com

The top one is usually the elevation (up/down) and the side one is windage (left/right). My scope, a Leopold 3x9x40 has "up" and "right" marked on the dials.

High/Left usually means you have to back down the elevation and move the windage to the right. The amount depends on whar range you are shooting from (25, 50, 100).

The articles will help explain it. There are other heplful articles on the main shooting site.
