    Pre Ban Glock Mag Question

Last week I purchased a Glock 19 and of course can not simply be satisfied without considering enhancements. I am wondering if it is legal for me to purchase a pre ban mag. Also if I do manage to find one will it work in a newly purchased gun.

If it is legal where would I go to get a 15rd mag and how much should I expect to pay.

    Thanks

It is not legal for you to purchase a new, complete, hi cap magazine.

It is legal for you to purchase a new, complete hi cap magazine rebuild kit.
(All the magazine components in a disassembled state)

It is not legal for you to take that kit and assemble it into a magazine that accepts more than 10 rounds.

It can be used for out of state shooting, or to make a permanently fixed magazine that holds no more than 10 rounds.

Done in one. Rukus covered all your questions; I'd also read the magazine FAQ here.

You can use it out of state after you assemble it out of state. Before you return to CA, you need to diassemble it.

I guess the best solution is to practice more and make 10rds count.

              Exactly correct.

And I really wish we could generally lose the 'pre-ban' language.

Heroin is banned - you can be arrested for having it.

                Large-capacity magazines are not banned.

Transferring them, acquiring new ones, is banned.

Owning, possessing and using large-capacity magazines are not banned (but using them in an OLL with 'features' creates an illegal 'assault weapon').

Just buy 10-20 ten round mags and you'll be fine.

I'm personally waiting for McDonald to resolve and the dust to settle in CA before dropping money on mags right now. I'd hate to spend $200 on 10rnd mags only to have that law challenged and defeated within the year.

Not saying I think it's entirely likely to happen, but it's certainly possible.

Since a ban on possession has yet to occur I suppose they are all 'pre-ban'.

Now back to my pre-ban heroin...
