I was thinking of surprising him with ammo, then having a day at the range..then cake =) idk.. he wants this special flashlight, but I have no idea what it is or where to get it..he likes little gadgets or cool stuff that he can "show off" to his friends?? Any ideas???

is the flashlight for a handgun or shotgun? if it is for a handgun, i own couple of Streamline TLR-2. LED light with laser. if my wife got me that, my neighbors would be complaining about the noise that would occur that night.

The special flashlight is likely to be a SureFire tactical light or comparable brand, they're awesome and are not cheap, I think they start out around $200. (IE: I have a SureFire X300 on my handgun). A quick Google Shopping search brought up a few from $220-250.

Not sure how much you want to spend but the light may be a bit pricey for a b-day present for a boyfriend; I think ammo and a day at the range would be awesome!

If you want to do a bit more in addition to ammo and a day at the range, then maybe a gift card to a gun shop he frequents.

You can also check in the Ladies Forum to see what ideas they have and what's worked for them.

            I'd vote ammo,
But if he really wants the flashlight and you don't know what kind....

okay.. the flashlight is a maybe! now.. here's my other dilemma, I don't know what kind of ammo to get! He has gloc, an AR15, a 12 gauge, a .17 rifle, a colt..I know the guns he has, just not the ammo that they take? suggestions? Oh and I want to take him to the chabot gun range in Castro Valley, CA. Is there any ammo that I should NOT look for because it may not be allowed???

i would get a light for his gun. the light will always be there. everytime he sees it, he will see the pistol light. as for ammo, once you shoot it, it is gone. just my 2 cents

Chances are the AR15 uses .223/5.56 ammo (maybe you could sneak a look at some point to verify), and you can buy Wolf ammo pretty cheap for it to get him a few hundred rounds. If he reloads for it I would suggest getting him a box or two of Sierra 77 grain HPBT or Hornady 75 grain, those are some of the very best bullets to use with it.

As far as lights go, Fenix is great for the money and gives better performance than Surefire.

For .45 just to shoot at the range, Load X has some really good prices.

here's a cheap but awesome reloading kit if he doesn't already have one. I asked about it here and people say it's a great starter kit if you want to save some money the first go around. This could get him into reloading and then he could save a TON of money on ammo for the rest of his life. just a thought. that website has plenty of other reloading kits and other gun supplies too.

Most civilization is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the will. You regulate the appetites. You fence in the horizons. You make a law for every movement. You deny the existence of chaos. You teach even the children to breathe slowly. You tame.
