Hi
I just purchased a 516 and 3x magnifier combo from an online retailer. I am concerned about indications that both the sight and possibly magnifier have were in fact used merchandise and am wondering if anyone else here who happens to own a gen II ex magnifier can help me.
When I started to mount the magnifier I noticed that the mounting screws seemed a little reluctant to engage the threads on the magnifier body, so I took a closer look and noticed that this unit has what appears to be helicoil type thread inserts:

I can see how this could be a design feature intended to protect the aluminum of the magnifier body, but as my sight has indications that it has been previously mounted (large nick in the screwdriver slot on the mounting knob) I am concerned that this unit may have had its threads stripped and repaired at some point before being sold to me.
So if anyone here who has one of these units could check and confirm if yours also has these inserts I would greatly appreciate it!
thanks
